Its a dedicated HT room about 15'L x 13'W x 11/12' H (I am not sure). I have dark, thick curtains and a thick carpet in the centre floor area where the sound tends to bounce. Other than that nothing else.... Any suggestions anyone.

BTW, why did you change your signature? Liked the previous one "Hurry home"!

You can get these damping materials to ur walls which would be available in professional audio shops..

Regarding the Signature change,it wasnt serious enough i guess :D . Just that this new one was my latest original and thought of using..

And BTW, do you have a dedicated 2 channel stereo Amp for music playback cos am thinking of getting one.

Nope I dont use a dedicated 2 channel stereo amp for music....The Marantz is just fine.

Ain't this a bit on an overkill??? Three pairs of front surround speakers!

not exactly, the zaldek 2000's are for the front. the zaldek 1000's are for the rear surrounds. the surrounds are placed above your listening position.

front surrounds are placed behind the tv for sounds that the director wishes to place behind the actor. rear surrounds are placed near the ear level at around 5 feet above the seating position. the Left and right back surround is placed behind the seating arrangement for a complete surround.it is a typical 7.1 with front rear surround setup.

As some of you know, I went in for Sony HTiB system. I was also toggling between sound system and home theater system. Anyway! While scouting around and looking for various players/decoders/amps etc, I noticed cost variation based on features offered such as Dolby Prologic I/II, MP3/DivX support etc etc.

These days, I find it much easier and lot more flexible to use my laptop for generating best signal and then using the HTiB box for only amplification. It's valid for both audio and video (stereo input for audio and s-video/component video input for video). With a computer handling most of the sound/picture effect, it offers lot of flexibility to a creative person (which I am definitely not). I tired various players on my laptop and was playing around with effects and it sure is fun.

I was wondering if other people are doing the same.

How do you decode 5 chnanels on the HTiB. The laptop's audio out is only 2 ch.

Sound cards can decode 5.1 channels. But for MP3, 2 channel suffices. I am a dummy in ICE, so experts, please comment..

A friend of mine is nuts about Bose and is planning to purchase either a Lifestyle series HT or maybe he could also go for one of the HT speaker sets. I'm, by no stretch of imagination, knowledgeable about the subtleties of audio systems .. however .. I'm trying to talk him out of it.

Bose Lifestyle systems seem to be way overpriced. I mean one could have a real good setup with a 1 - 2 L budget, isn't it ?

While I was at the showroom I also took the oppy to check out the 301 bookshelfs .. somehow I find that the mid-range of their speakers sound too sharp .. or maybe I'm mistaking crisp sound for being too bright stupid:
