Hi Dreams,

If the purchase date is less than 7days I would ask you to visit the store and get it replaced, as you would be entitled for a boxed replacement, else it might be a refurbished one :Frustrati

If you have crossed 7day limit, believe me a replacement would not solve the issue. I got 4 IPAD's as replacement (3 by Local dealer and 1 by Apple Singapore a boxed piece shipped to me that took almost a month:deadhorse) and all of them have the same problem.

I decided not to go for any replacement on my 5th IPAD as Iam sure the issue is not solved yet, so better use for some more time and then go for a replacement as you have the eligibility for 1 whole year.

But if you would like to give it a try, you can get a replacement.

Use it for a longer duration and it is said that post few days usage the adhesive solidifies and light stops to bleed, past 3-4 days post your usage you can ascertain if the problem will go away. If not then you are entitled for a replacement. Hope it gets corrected soon. Enjoy.

Sn1p3r I doubt it does, Iam sure adhesive is dry by the time we receive the IPAD and in no way it can fix on it's own. It's three weeks on my IPAD and the problem still exists.

Only thing that would happen is you get used to and ignore it, I guess this is what Iam doing.

First I went to Reliance digital and checked if they can provide any discount since it was a new shop opened in chennai. Unfortunately they couldnt, but showed me the boxed iPad. It was not the usual white box with the iPad images, it was a brown box with nothing on it. Denied and came to Croma and got the original boxed iPad.

I have already elapsed the 7 day period, as per sniper and you, will wait for some more days with more usage for the gel to gel well with the iPad.

Good that you didn't pick the brown one, that's exactly what they would give when you have opted for a replacement. A brand new should allways be a white boxed one.

Iam sure it won't go on it's own, so there won't be a change. Only change would be you getting adjusted to it:D

BTW, what is that brown box, refurbished one?
Will the light bleeding cause any concerns, in the days to come??

Brown box pieces are basically shipped from Apple for all the cases where replacement has to be done. It might be of a high possibility that they are refurbished one. They come with a complete different serial number that starts with "X".

I had a long debate with Apple on this, they claim it not. But it's not correct.

There won't be any other problems with the light bleeding, it would cause discomfort when you have dark backgrounds that's it

Folks!

Anyone using 3G services here? What would be the best plan for iPad 1?

Requirement is just routine mails and surfing on the move. Thanks guys!

Just take 1 GB prepaid card from BSNL. costs around 325 bucks. pretty good speeds and connectivity. They also have postpaid which costs like 400 bucks or so.

Lot of plans available in BSNL. Take a photo id copy, couple of passport photos and go to any BSNL office. They will give you a mini SIM as well these days.

Earlier I got the usual SIM and did a DYI to convert it into a mini SIM.

Much appreciated csentil!

Are these mini-SIMs not available at retail outlets? And how long does it take to get this SIM?

BSNL has provision to issue Micro Sim for iPad with iPad specific plans, so does Airtel (offer microsim) if i am not mistaken. Do check with local offices for more details.

@ Raghu and Dreams. The light bleed is due to the gel that sticks the screen to the body. The trouble is that this gel does not dry quickly as per the forums it takes about 3 months to dry on it's own in packed form (ipad forums discuss this issue). However with regular usage many people have reported it to be as short as 3 weeks. Thus my suggestion to use. Hopefully this will get eradicated. I got lucky as my friends picked my unit from Chicago and it had no issues. The way iPad have been flying off the shelf, I am sure you got the freshest lot.

@JVH: I too recommend pre paid BSNL plan. There is a 999 plan for iPad only. Unlimited monthly plan. As Jaggu mentioned micro sims are readily available. Cheers!

@Sn1p3r and raghu
Did a deeper check yesterday and in only 2 places, the light bleed is highly visible and the other 2 places its feeble. Tried pressing the edges to see if the bleed increases, but luckily no.
And moreover, this bleed is visible only in the dark.
I have also sent an email to Apple regarding the same and lets see what they have to say.

Yesterday, JB'ed my iPad2 and boy, the JB is becoming easier and easier. Used Jailbreakme and installed Cydia and the whole process took less than a minute. No restart or anything. Kudos to comex.

Hi I recently purchased an Ipad wifi with 3g. looking to sign up for 3g plan in mumbai. Usage is likely to be minimal since most of the time ipad will be at home and will be using the wifi. Any suggestion on which provider to go based on quality and cost.

Can anyone suggest some good case for iPad 2? I like the smart cover, but it doesnt protect the back of iPad.

Hi I recently bought an ipad and you must buy a smart cover, its awesome. And the back does not need much protection but if you still want a cover then buy a sleeve for the ipad. But you must also buy the smart cover. :)

I was thinking the same, but rather than spending on 2 cases, why not buy 1. I have seen many cases which are similar to Smart cover and it does cover for the back too, but not sure which is good, moreover all the case I have seen are available in the US. I have to ship them.
