They give better deals with some coupon discounts and all, otherwise almost all shops offer at same price. Jayanagar i heard offer best price for in person purchase.

If you know Tata employee, then Croma gives you a discount of about 3k. Another option get a student discount using sons schooling details.

Isn't there an age limit for availing student prices? I thought the minimum age limit is 18 years and you should provide your student id card details during your purchase. I could be wrong. Please correct me.

No my understanding, as told by a teacher is school children can also avail it. School has to sign off some forms.

Guys my friend has suddenly decided to gift his fiancee ( they got enaged just last week) an Ipad 3 64 GB + wifi + 4G. Problem is the store in baroda is out of stock and they told him it will take around 20 days. He needs the Ipad before the 25th of this month. Any help on where can I guide him? Would it be safe to buy one from Delhi or Mumbai and courier it to baroda?

Buy it on eBay. Its totally safe, just see the seller ratings.

If anyone is still interested in buying the iPad 2 they should know that Apple has updated the processor on the Wi-fi only version with a newer gen one.

The new processor is 32nM technology compared to earlier 45nM. It offers significant improvement in battery life (almost 30%) as well slight improvement in performance.

Unfortunately there's no way of knowing if the iPad 2 you bought is with newer processor or not apart from opening the piece and running Geekbench. The model is iPad 2,4.

From my recent research, ipad2 is only available in 16GB version in India. However, the new ipad3 (known as the new ipad) is available in 16, 32 and 64GB versions both Wi-fi and Wi-fi+4G models. Also, with the dollar prices going up and rupee going down the difference between US and India prices is very negligible just Rs.500-Rs.1000 - 7 months ago there was a significant 7K-10K difference ! This has also resulted in the ipads being very popular in local stores so when I called the stores last week, all of them said they were out of stock and expected next batch of stock to arrive this week.

This apparently is not true. Just checked with theMAG, he couldn't get any discount. I guess I'll just walk into nearby Reliance Digital.

If the store is a reputed one, you shouldn't worry on ebay. Nowadays Paisapay has put a block on all funny transactions. If the buyer disputes, payment = tata bye bye, esp if there is a return policy.

Tata part check with Viji, if am not mistaken he has availed this to buy his iPad.

Ipad 2 wi fi seems to be the same price all over these electronics chains. My wife bought me one from the US sometime last year and that was a 32GB wi fi 3G which cost about 30 ish.

I bought a 16GB wi fi ipad 2 for my folks about 2-3 weeks ago here in India and paid 24.5k plus about another 8k for a bunch of accessories: magnetic flap, soft carry case bag with enough space for the charger etc, a good quality stylus and so on.

All the premium re sellers (read; imagine) offer some 6% education discount if you are a student. Croma gives nothing. Reliance gives nothing. EZone gives nothing.

If one buys a macbook pro at 69900 with 4GB RAM and 500 GB HDD, then one gets 6 k worth of accessories free with it. The most useful such accessory is the licensed software package of Microsoft Windows Office for Apple whose MRP is Rs 5448. With the remainder, one can either take a flashpen drive or a spike buster by paying the difference. Good deal I believe.

I bought mine through Ebay. I regularly buy from from them and I have never faced any issue. I got my iPad 2 for about 20k8 last month. Some deliver real fast - within 3 days.
