I beg to differ, factory reset deletes all data from phone storage and makes your phone like a new one brought right now. Deleting the primary Google account won't do anything loke that, except you won't be able to use any Google apps and services.

In Samsung phones (not sure about others) you can't delete your Google account unless you perform a factory reset or add another Google account. I've tried this on my mom's Galaxy Pop when it was having some minor issues.

That's strange, because I've done it multiple times on my Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. Yet to try on my S4.

I don't think there's an app which can do exactly what you're looking for, but can suggest 'Locale' as it comes close to your requirements. However the app is kinda pricey!

thanks. Will explore and let you know.

Aren't all your apps linked with the account too? Then it would get rid of all the apps too IMHO. I haven't tried to remove Google account recently, but that was the case probably a year back.

That's true. My wife had to do the same thing on her Galaxy Ace to change the primary gmail address on it.

Locale does exactly what I want it to. thanks for pointing me to it.
But at 7.99€, not cheap and doesn't sound worth it.
Will keep searching around. thanks.

I am looking for an app which would sync with calendar and automatically switch off ringer on the phone for the duration of the meeting. Does anybody know of anything like this?

Appreciate your help.

"Busy Me" is what you are looking for and its free.

Question:

How good will the Custom ROM scene for the Note 3 be?

I was going to buy my dad a Note 2 and put Cyanogenmod on it -- but if the Note 3 will be as mod-friendly, i'd get that instead.

Are there any limitations that make the Note 3 less custom-rom-friendly than the Note 2?

Thanks,
R

EDIT: I think I'm just gonna buy the tried & tested Note 2.

Opt 1: Delete all accounts from 'accounts and sync' including the Google account. Restart your phone and add the Google account first. Try accessing Play Store now, and update your apps.

This doesn't work. I wonder why it keeps asking me to enable background data when mobile data is already enabled!

EDIT: Its miraculously started to work again after re-starting.Thanks

Opt 2: Backup all your contacts and data and perform a 'factory reset'. This will delete all apps and related data and should solve the issue for sure.
Haven't tried this yet! So i will need to download all the apps again? It petrifies me if all my data & contacts don't get backed up for some reason.

Try this first. Settings -> Apps. Find Play Store and Google Play Services and then clear data. That might fix your problem.

Tried it, doesn't seem to work!

This can be done using Tasker app.
You need to create a Profile on this app to do the same. You can also automate lot of stuff using this app.
However, this app is bit technical like writing scripts, you need to refer the Help guide, Profile wiki etc on how to create Profiles.
Once you get a hang of it, it is breeze.

Take a backup via kies. You'll save your sms and contacts. Apps will get deleted, you'll need to re-download them.

Just got my Nexus 5. Initial impressions are awesome screen, great build, great feeling in hand. Will post more details after few days of use.

In either cases, with Note 2 as well as Note 3, You might loose some S-pen features with cynaogenmod. Thats what i read in their articles.

Hello,

Perhaps you can have a look at these two apps.

1) Llama - location based awareness app - Free
2) Tasker - Awesome app, steep learning curve but a very versatile tool - Paid

These are a profiles i use for tasker

1) automatically activate and deactivate bluetooth for incoming, outgoing calls
2) Face down the phone goes to silent mode
3) Auto -sync every 2 hours for 5 mins - Saves battery

Enjoy

Any of you tried this awesome app - Skifta? Using it, you can play your media files - music, videos or photos from your mobile on a DLNA or uPNP device. But I found it more useful once I installed the desktop version and now I can view media files on my TV through my DLNA bluray player.

Guess it is like Twonky - but the desktop version is free with Skifta.

If interested, take a look see on the Play store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.app&hl=en

And their site - http://www.skifta.com/
