I known there is an official ICS update and IIRC Sam has also promised a JB update, but after being betrayed by Sony with its crappy and buggy updates (which they won't even fix), just to keep their promise, I'v become wary. But of course there is the custom ROM route. Bout does anybody know how JB performs on this phone?

You can have a look at Desire X. Its a solid phone.

^^^Thanks will take a look. Want something that can match my Xperia Ray's 8 MP cam and screen quality (fed up of its size though). And that seems like a bit of a tall order in the mid range at least. Checked out the Galaxy Grand, and the screen was a bit disappointing, esp. given its price range.

Oh gawd... was just checking out the Desire X - yet another phone from HTC without a magnetometer!! A huge thumbs down from my side at least.

Last time I was buying a phone, I rejected the HTC One V for not having one.

HTC is probably the only company that is trying to sell you less sensors rather than more. Even el cheapo Chinese phones have magnetometers. I thought we had reached the age where these basic sensors are a given in what you call a smartphone. What is HTC thinking?

^^What's a magnetometer for?

Compass and thus for any meaningful navigation.

^^Right. No magnetometer = no meaningful navigation. No meaningful maps either!

Speaking about the Galaxy Grand, the one that I checked out at the shop had a demo video on it. I presume it comes pre-installed. I felt it was quite good for checking out a phones display abilities. Does anybody by any chance know any place online where you can get that video? Of if it isn't too big and isn't too much trouble, maybe upload it online to some sharing site or Dropbox or something?

Incidentally, my Xperia Ray also came with a great video which demoed its screen capabilities. But I forgot to save it before upgrading, and it wasn't part of the ICS update, so lost that one. :(

Talking about demo videos, i saw one such video on Note 2. It really showed the awesomeness of HD SuperAMOLED screen. Want to try that on my phone as well, so anyone with Note 2 or S3, can please let us know if that video can be shared via Bluetooth or USB? Considering it is a proprietary system file.

(May b it can be browsed through ES file explorer without need to root.)

google now, and this. innovative. ;)

So after Nikon it's Apple :D

I don't know if he knows that HDMI output is possible from some cheap phones which can be fed to HT and there is no need to worry about impedence characterstics of 3.5mm audio jack any more.

I know, but I love Google Now and never miss a chance to show it off to my colleagueslol:. It has delighted me quite a lot, like this time when I went abroad for a couple of weeks it started displaying an additional card which gave me the time back home in India.

One other thing that I noticed recently is that if you search for a particular place using Google maps on your PC, a card automatically pops up in Google Now with the directions to the same place.
