Automatic small car options?

How many mid/small cars out there which are Automatic?
Are they at a premium?
and howz they're re-sale value?

Friend of mine converted his Zen into an automatic. Any idea how much it costs to convert?

Among small cars, I believe only Santro has automatic option ~4 lakh.
Why not ask your friend how much he paid for automatic conversion?

so you can ask your friend to find out ;-)
But as sbasak said among small cars only the Santro has an Auto-box, costs well above 4L I think...

Among mid-sizers, Honda City has a CVT version.
As for resale, I am not sure there are too many buyers out there, coz then more cars would have auto variants already.

Santro Xing XL AT and Wagon R AX are the options. I too find Santro AT a better option.

I think Zen AT is not available anymore, it was discontinued back in 2005!

Why not try the auto clutch option rather than a automatic trasmission??

Auto-Clutch is an accessory which when fitted on a manual transmission car, makes the use of clutch pedal reducant. It is basically a parallel system to the existing clutch mechanism & as such no modification is made to the original design. The system has the flexibility of being switched ON or OFF while the car is in motion & at the same time, the original clutch can be used without any interference in the operation of the Auto-clutch.

How does this work? Does this mean I will have a 2nd clutch pedal?
Do you have any pics of this setup?

Don't Maruti's automatics come with a 3 speed automatic transmisison? . Do check if the Wagon R gets this jurasic park aged automatic too. I know Zen used to have it. In comparision Santro has a 4 speed automatic. I'd pick the Santro A/T.

Santro is actually the only option. Well wagon R is there, but 4 speed Auto is way better. Insipite of crazy urban traffic, India is not an automatic hot spot. I guess obsession with FE is the main cause?

You are right, and that sucks. I feel Santro AT is priced very high just because there is no real competition, and no real market potential. I was looking up on-road prices for a Santro AT and I found that it costs more than 5 lakhs.

Bangalore guys, are these prices realistic?

Not sure how exactly it works or the setup. Heard of people using this. You will have a button on the gear knob and you will have to depress that, I guess. Find dealers of Automate India in your city. They manufacture these this in india.
