The tipping vote has been caste, the decision has been made, we have a clear winner---->Swift.

Are you sure? As I see it, Swift (all versions) has 27 votes, and Palio 1.6 + Palio (others) have 28 (24+4) votes

Not that this means anything.

I voted for the Getz 1.3.
It's big, comfortable, reliable, decently FE, safe (relitively).
The swift isn't as big and comfortable (a big minus for the chaeffuer driven), reliable (yes, i get that it is a Maruti but i has loads of niggling problems).
The getz as of right now seems the perfect compromise between all of the vehicles and is the one I would pick if I had to buy a hatchback or reccommend one.
Waiting for the diesel version to come out.

The palio looks a lot nicer than the swift, but swift has a menacing on road presence.

I dont really see the point in this poll.
If its supposed to be as an indicator to a potential buyer on what hatch to go for, the person's requirements would vary, along with the budget.

We keep having these Safest hatch polls, and so on, where we usually never reach a consensus.

With its clean understated lines, the Palio 1.6 for me. The build and 100 bhp do it for me. Also a great car to soup up. I like the Swift but do think that its got a "girly"side to it (no offence to existing owners or fans).

Swift all the way. There is no other manufacturer thats even come close to offering such a VFM hatch for 6 lakhs or below. Case in point: Hyundai launching the 1.1L Santro-engined Getz to try and woo the entry-level even Swift buyers. Even then the Swift Lxi is a far more VFM option.

OK - 1.6 Palio too. If they can set right the ownership experience.

The Palio 1.6. India's first hot hatch. Love it from Day 1. Awesome build quality and fast . Love the engine note.

Haven't driven all the cars mentioned here. But, if I've to choose one car among the hatchbacks, it has to be Swift-VDi. It simply floored me with the torque.

Wonder why there are not much voters for Santro here. As a normal family man, I would never want to think of an option over Santro. Just look around, one will understand what common man thinks / buys.

Anytime Santro.

Something is seriously wrong with this poll. The hottest hatch by numbers should have easily led this poll, but it has not received even a single vote. Where is the ALTO ?

One of my friend purchased a 6 year old Palio. This is the first time I had taken a closer look & spent few hours with it. Now I understand the term "tank like build quality". I agree with that. Though the overall weight between Palio and Swift are marginal (am I right here), Palio seems be more stronger outside.

Keeping my heart aside and voting for what my head says

I rate Getz 1.1 as the "real big car at a small car price" inspite of having a Swift Vxi
