Re: Punto MJD 75 E+ vs Polo 1.6 Highline

Guys,
No offence taken on the colour issue. Like DRIV3R has pointed out, it is a subjective matter. I did consider the Red very seriously, but in my mind the FTA suits my personality better.

Its a great colour in the flesh, and stands out quite well on the Punto. Hopefully, the non-believers will change their mind once I put a few pictures up here.

Re: Punto MJD 75 E+ vs Polo 1.6 Highline

Folks, I have another query now.
Where is the VIN located on the Fiat Punto?
In the Swift, it was under the bonnet beneath a removable plastic panel.

IIRC, it's on the left front quarter glass. On a barcode sticker.

Pyro, congrats for booking the car.

I request you to do a thorough PDI before the car goes for registration, check the car in and out, especially the fit and finish of the rubber beadings, parcel tray garnishes, and in general everything. You will save a lot of time in cutting down unnecessary future visits, if you do your PDI well.

Just a sticker?! I'd have thought they'd find a more permanent way of stamping this information on the car.

Thanks Cliffhanger! Absolutely! I will be taking a friend as well as the team-BHP PDI list. I will not leave any panel unnoticed.

Yeah, it's just a sticker on the left front quarter glass. I am not sure if the same is hard-stamped anywhere else on the body though.

Re: Punto MJD 75 E+ vs Polo 1.6 Highline

@Pyro
The VIN is hard stamped on the floor pan in the front passenger footwell. Near the passenger door, close to the seat-mount rails, you will find a small flap in the carpet under which the VIN is stamped.

Of course, the sticker on front driver side quarter glass also has the VIN along with the exact model code.

@DRIV3R
I was just expressing an opinion on the choice of colour, and also on what I feel looks good on the Punto. I think I have the freedom of doing that.

Thanks for the info!

Of course. The context and the way of putting it matters though!

Cheers.

Congrats ! Wise decision!

Now, can someone do confirm that maintaining a Polo is this costly; 7k odd for each service?
And VW also gives you extended warranty ( you pay extra of course).

Re: Punto MJD 75 E+ vs Polo 1.6 Highline

congrats Pyrotek! I was also in a confusion before booking Polo Diesel or Punto MJD.. but after driving Polo D and Punto MJD, it was very clear for me.. Punto MJD E! so far clocked 6000+ kms and done with 1st free service.. bill was 0. I am enjoying the car a lot!
PS. but black color is a pain to maintain!

It is also stamped in the boot. If you lift the spare tyre cover then on left side somewhere you can see.

Hope you already told them that you are a team-BHPian and you will be doing a Team-BHP PDI. That will prevent them from doing any mischief in the first place.

And hey, trust FIAT lovers to get vocal about even colors. Doesn't matter if its not them but someone else buying the car.

15k service interval?

Pyrotek; do change the tyres to better ones once you get the car.

Re: Punto MJD 75 E+ vs Polo 1.6 Highline

Well, dont know, but I think comparing a 1.6Polo to a 1.2 Polo is unfair. Simply because, the 1.6 engine is imported, means most of its components will be imported. Thus spare will be very costly, as parts imported to be sold as spares attract the full import duty, not one for CKDs but one for CBUs. This drives up the price of spare very heavily. This may be driving the regular ownership costs up in the 1.6 Polo.

But, I have not actually checked the ownership costs of a 1.2Polo P or D, so cant really comment on it.

Only thing I can say is, on our 1.5yr old Punto 1.4EPack, the total service expenditure hasn't even touched 3k yet.
