I don't think Volvo's bus/truck business or its Chinese ownership is affecting the brand value of its cars. Even if there were no Volvo trucks/buses on our roads, I guess Volvo would've remained a slow mover in our market. I think it's just that Volvo hasn't had the brand image of the Germans from the very beginning. Haven't we seen in our movies - rich guys use Merc or Beemer not Volvo. So for us, sign of success = owning Merc,BMW. Volvo doesn't figure in there. So Volvo needs to get involved in film business and project owning Volvo cars as a sign of success. Then maybe, the next generation of Indians will buy Volvo

I think it's because some of the 3's market has been taken away by the X1. But surely, the 5 is a very popular car.

Why is Maruti even bothered about Vista? While Vista was intended to overthrow the swift, Last time I checked Swift was outselling Vista + Indica 2:1.

PS: Notice the ad doesn't have Indica written anywhere

Amazing catch. Vista needs to be worried. Swift still the undisputed leader.

I don't think so. The C-class sells 300 odd units every month. The 3er used to do the same but right now, I think that number is split between the 3er and X1. People seem to be cross-shopping but still good news is that overall sales are up for BMW. We need some more time to analyse the sales of X1.

PS - Any break-up of Audi's and Mercedes-benz's figures for May 2011?

Honda Sales up 48% from May 2011.

Jazz: 361;
City: 2802;
Civic: 175
Accord: 103;
CR-V: 14

City seems to have regained lost ground by selling almost 3K units.
Jazz also doubled from last month.

Some positive signs for Honda at last.
Hope they reduce the price on Jazz and introduce some base variants - that will give a much deserved success to such a wonderful car.
