Apparently Oncars.in also spied this car while testing.
Heres the pic.

Re: SCOOP PICS : New VW Jetta, Vento 1.4 petrol, and a Yeti spotted testing

Is the Polo GTi news confirmed? I hope it comes with the 1.6Tsi engine at least. I hope VW offers a good exchange scheme for existing polo 1.6 owners once this version is released.

noopster,

Do you have confirmed info. on the launch of the DSG for India? Date?
The DSG is being revamped/redesigned, especially the seven speed DSG.

Regards, drive safe

P.S. : Read somewhere that the MP12-4C has a 'DSG' like transmission by Oerlikon-Graziano.

Is there a 1.6TSi? From what I know the Polo GTi comes with the 1.4 TSi motor (with around 180bhp). If that gets to India, we may have a major overhaul in the petrol line-up from VW group!

Sorry, i meant the 1.4 Tsi 180bhp version. It will be the ultimate hatch. Cant wait for concrete release date and pricing from VW.

While the new Jetta looks better on the outside, the inside is reported to be of lower quality as a cost cutting measure, at least in the US.

This has been discussed quite in length across various posts on the new Jetta. What India will get is the European version, which is high on quality compared to the US version.

However the bigger shoes and possibly meatier C pillar of the new Jetta gives the car a more matured feel.
LOL this is so true that it's actually sad.

IMHO, VW has lost focus on making quality cars with enough product differentiation and fun within their lineup. Unfortunately they've become too consumed with selling as many cars as they possibly can just to overtake Toyota as the largest car manufacturer.
Don't get me wrong, their cars are surely still good quality for the most part, but it's totally lost the spirit that vdubs used to have in the late 90s or early 2000s. And that's the reason why I don't think I'll ever buy a VW again.

However, my favourite Jetta will still be the MK IV 2005 GLI. Absolute beauty without trying too hard. 180 HP 6 speed manual. Insanely fun. Here's a pic for those who possibly haven't seen one.

Re: SCOOP PICS : New VW Jetta, Vento 1.4 petrol, and a Yeti spotted testing

Saw a piece in overdrive website that Skoda's entry level hatchback (positioned below the Fabia) will be called Youngster. The website has also mentioned that the news is from their 'sources', but Skoda has not confirmed it yet.

Not sure if this warrants for a separate thread. So just sharing the info.

Here is the related link: http://www.overdrive.in/story-news-g...y-41882-0.html

Note: If this is true, I sincerely hope Skoda find a new team to name their cars

Is it just me, or are there some shades of Maruti Ritz in the "Youngster"? Sometime back, there was a talk of VW launching rebadged cars from Suzuki stable. Is this the result?

Indian autos blog also has caught the new Jetta testing in Karnataka. Here are couple of pictures from their site.

Also note that this one has a single exhaust pipe, headlamp washers & sunroof .

Hmm. This one looks like a Petrol Version. There seems to be another badge on the rear end and not the TDI one seen on the earlier car that was spied. I wish they would stick to the sunroof on the TDI.

I think that badge says bluemotion, so that means they will launch it with the 1.6 from the Vento also.

Are you sure its 180 bhp? Too high for a 1.4L engine even if its turbo stratified. I guess it would have to be twin-charged (turbo + supercharger). I don't see that coming to India ever. A 1.4L TSi delivering 102 BHP maybe more practical knowing how engines are de-tuned for India.
