Gosh! The Only thing it needed is an engine to match the rest of it. They need to do nothing else apart from the Engine.

Regarding service support, we are seeing an increase in Force people carriers on our roads, so I think, they are slowly moving towards the right direction.

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

I dont think this will sell in numbers and be a serious competitor to the Thar. Now before you blast me for it being a 4x4 beast which is obviously better than the Thar. I agree to it, this being a vehicle high on my wish list.
However the Thar is mostly bought by the Open top loving populace who then proceed to put the widest tyres with the shiniest Alloys to flaunt in their areas.
While we also have serious 4x4 loving or simply looking for the Macho look owners (right on this forum) a vehicle like the Gurkha does not simply appeal to the general "gold chain, white shirt" crowd.

On the other hand, having driven this once (down south in a friends estate) I love the Gurkha for its go anywhere capability and awesome ride even in bad terrain. I still remember that my friend crashed into a boulder sideways, put the car back on its feet with some help and drove away. The dent was repaired at home by removing the inner panel and hammering!.

Actually what there to hide. Same old design with a few cosmetic changes.

If Force Motors can shorten the length of the Cruiser/Toofan with a a more contemporary design, they would have decent numbers.

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

Well I dont mean to be a skeptic but I think the new Gurkha is not going to be that much different than the one that was on sale a few years ago. My guess is that the two things that will change is that the same engine that will be tuned to BSIV and a few cosmetic changes in the interior and exterior.

The old Gurkha was priced between 8.2-8.9 Lakhs OTR depending on the city, I seriously doubt that the new Gurkha will be priced any lower keeping in mind the rise in input costs over the last two years. Plus you have additional taxes that have been added by the govt. in the last year or so.

The only major thing that might change is that now maybe Force motors will enlighten its dealers more on this model and production and availability will be much better than before. SO If you are ok with the price of 8.2-8.9 L OTR then get your cheque books ready .

Guys some new insider info. Engine on test is a 2.6L BSIII Traveler engine with 75-80 PS power, 220Nm torque. Interiors remain largely unchanged, atleast on the test mules. The Force One alloys are just for test, would not make it to production cars.

Not much different from what's on their website then.

http://www.forcemotors.com/Trax_Cruiser.html

75 HP, 195 Nm as per this page. Any major change to the 4x4 as mentioned earlier?

Looking forward to a real pedigreed offroader.

Cheers.

That sucks!
If its a BS3, its only meant for the rural market.
I was dreaming about an indian G wagon
Guess i was expecting too much from force motors.

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

The pictures from Motorbash seems photoshopped. Especially the round headlights? Round headlamps in a rectangular nacell. I would think even Force motors wouldn't be that daft.

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

The spy shots seem to show a nice looking Force Gurkha!! I love the high stance and the bright color. The roof rails could have been more asthetic though. And why that akward front heavy stance in this vehicle? Any reason that the back should stick up higher than the front?
What prevents Force from reskinning the body shell like the Force One and giving a better looking Suv?

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

I would love having something like the Judo... but, it would mean cannibalization of Force-One's number. BTW, I saw a TV review of the latter & the reviewer commented that it was actually good on most counts, like interiors (dated but sturdy), smooth gearshift (it seems that they have addressed the issue), interior space, build quality (barring the panel gaps), road presence & manners (they rode it at 130 kmph).

Re: SCOOP Pics & Video - 2013 Force Gurkha

Is it only me or the new Gurkha in the scoop pics have no rear door (can only see one side). I dont seem to see the door edge and the door handle. Seems like a 3 door SUV
