Splendid move by TATA Motors. The alloys, the ICE with MP3, USB & Aux-in and the twin gloves make for very welcome additions. Makes the Nano a much more complete package compared with its immediate competition. They've put out a serious VFM package for entry-level car buyers.

Re: Tata Nano Special Edition for Diwali : More goodies, same price

Looks nice, i always thought Nano was a cheap and fragile car until i sat in one. My wife's cousin has bought a yellow Nano in Raipur. In our last visit had an opportunity to take it for a spin. Its a small easily maneuverable car.

Last week he calls me and updates that he and 2 others did this 300Kms drive from Raipur to Jagdalpur. One of the passengers included an elderly (My Father in law). After the return trip he did not complain of any tiredness.

Such improvements will only make it better, and increase the perceived Value-for-money perception.

Have the exchange offers on 2-wheelers (15K INR) and 4-wheelers (30-35K INR) being pulled-off? But, anyway a welcome move by Tata.

A power-steering option can push up sales significantly. A great value-for-money product in any case. Hope the diesel/CNG options come out soon.

Re: Tata Nano Special Edition for Diwali : More goodies, same price

Guys bought one yesterday.. It is a papaya orange LX.

Cost 2.32L OTR in Kochi, Kerala.

Best Part
The AC is superb, Comfort is acceptable on the good roads. Music System is actually very good
Fabric on the seat and the door pads are good..
Beige interiors make it feel more roomier than it already is.
Doors open wide. easy ingress and egress.
Glove box very useful and usable.
Did not like the color but a fan now.

Bad Part
Plastics have sharp edges and bruised my hand on the steering spoke while turning.
Fog lamps did not work. Faulty light stalk at play (Tata Quality Jai Ho!!)
Steering is too heavy at standstill (may be I am spoilt by power steering)
Brakes are not confidence inspiring.
Doors feel flimsy. (Blame it on the figo and Linea that I own)

Congrats on the purchase! The 2012 Nano has had a lot of updations, based on customer feedback, and 'this' one is a pure Value for Money! Wider Door-opening would be helpful for the elderly & a music system would complete the package!

All these features seem to be an effect of the new Alto 800. However the features that have been added surely make the car a VFM package for city driving.

Sometime back, I drove one which was bought by my friend in office. The steering feels a bit heavy and that's because PS is a way of life. However with 5 adults the car pulled really well on the inclines of Hyderabad city.

Glove boxes are a welcome addition. I feel this is a bit souped up display Nano with drilled pedals and navigator, etc which may not be available in the actual version on sale.

They got to add power steering to this car. Its a big pain doing reverse or turns in low speeds

BTW, where are the speakers located? How many of them? Are they on the doors like in any other car?

Could you please post a few pics if possible?

Re: Tata Nano Special Edition for Diwali : More goodies, same price

Wow, WIth those alloys, It looks cool!

Nice move by TATA. The few deterrents seems to be the engine noise, non-powered steering and the sharp edged plastics (Look at the 2nd pic on the opening post - how sharp the dashboard ends at the bottom)

O.T: What happened to the Bosch Diesel engine? Knowing the potential of a Diesel Nano, how can they delay it so much? It would be the one that can solve the very purpose of this project.

Re: Tata Nano Special Edition for Diwali : More goodies, same price

All of the above are great. What about power steering ?

I drove the Nano in south mumbai traffic and was a fan of it. Only two issues being- power steering (a must have in city traffic) & range (test drive car actually stopped at a pump to refuel).

Also if some sound deadening material like dynamat or something else can be used. A few hundred rupees more but will give great value.

Hope someone from Tata's is listening to it.

Re: Tata Nano Special Edition for Diwali : More goodies, same price

This is a super deal, I just missed it by a month or so. Now I am driving one for last 3 months and love the car. I was never a Tata fan, but this car made me change my perception about Tata.
