| ![]() Jeep plans a compact SUV based on Renegade / 500x platform for Europe (and possibly India?). More details awaited on 1st June when FCA announces it's 5 year plan Quote:

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jeep confirms it's sub-4m SUV for India - to go up against the Maruti-Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport & the Tata Nexon. Expected to go on sale in the Indian market by 2022, the all-new sub-4m Jeep offering will also be exported to other countries from here, while the platform underlining this mini SUV will support electrification and connected car tech as well. | ![]() But there has been no confirmation on the Renegade for India though? We keep hearing multiple reports on the Renegade. Initial reports said that the Renegade is due for launch sometime in 2019, also possibly waiting for market feedback on the Compass. Then we heard some news that the Renegade may not make it to India for now. Now that FCA is seeing consistent demand for the Compass, should they not firm up their plans for the Renegade? Or is the under 4M compact SUV the only car below the Compass for India? |

| ![]() I feel Jeep should launch the Renegade in India before the "Jeep" euphoria started by the Compass wears off. With 2022 timeframe for the next offering (if they skip the Renegade) in India, it'll be too little too late and Jeep will head the Fiat way. They should even refresh the Compass by 2020 if they want to stay relevant in the market. |

This sub-4 meter SUV is likely to come in 2020-21, till then they will rely on CKD options and more variants of Compass to sustain the moment. I personally was eyeing Renegade sometime in 2018-19. ![]() Last edited by S.MJet : 4th June 2018 at 11:38. | ||

| ![]() It will be suicidal for Jeep to skip the Renegade and launch the sub 4M SUV. The sub 4M space is already crowded with the Brezza, Ecosport, Nexon, etc. The 10-20L segment is almost empty with the Creta is gathering all the sales. They should launch a Creta competitor, which is the Renegade. |

| ![]() Have there been any signs that Jeep is not Fiat? If Ford could starve the Indian market to export Ecosports, Jeep might do one better & not even try to sell more here. In the timeframe we are talking, it is more likely that Kia will show how it can be done. Maybe even Peugeot? Hope this isn't that much off-topic. |

| ![]() 2020 will be late for this sub-4m SUV, if Hyundai decided to launch the Carlino based SUV in 2019 and that too looks like having a very good road presence. Nevertheless, if Jeep decided to launch it at least by 2020, they should get a piece of pie in the already crowed compact SUV segment which is growing every passing month. |

| ![]() Just relying on one product is not part of Jeep India's plans. While the Compass has indeed established the brand and has made it popular amongst Indian buyers; it is still a premium product. Thus Jeep India needs a compact SUV with the good news being that it is indeed a part of its plans for India. No, it is not the Renegade but an altogether new product. Jeep made headlines earlier this year when it confirmed development of a new sub-four-metre SUV in its five-year plan announcement. Kevin Flynn, managing director, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India, has now stated that the model in question will be launched in India in 2020. Flynn spoke of the compact SUV in an interview with Business Standard Jeep will expand its SUV line-up from various angles. So one SUV would be below the Compass and another would be a three-row 7-seater model that would be positioned between the Compass and Grand Cherokee. Of most interest would be the compact SUV as the sales potential is huge here. This compact SUV would be under 4m but just like the Compass the Jeep DNA would be important and it would just not be another compact SUV with a Jeep badge. Official sketches released ![]() ![]() With this in mind, It will have rugged styling (might be similar to the Renegade SUV seen here) like the Compass but also clearly it would have segment first off-road ability and we do expect 4x4 plus even the modes to distinguish it. While compact SUVs till date have focused on on-road driving, the upcoming compact SUV will have its true Jeep DNA making it also a rugged SUV that does decent off-roading. This compact SUV will enter a crowded space with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and Mahindra XUV300. While we are still some time away from its launch, we do hope to see this soon and cannot wait to hear more about this SUV. Meanwhile what are your thoughts on this upcoming 'baby' Jeep? Tell us in the comments section below. The launch timeline of the B-segment five-seater and D-segment seven-seater SUVs is yet uncertain but ahead of their arrival, Jeep will likely be expanding the range of the Compass. Just as the Compass, both the SUVs will be produced at the Ranjangaon plant and could be shipped to RHD markets, as the facility will see expansion of about 80,000 units, taking the total capacity to 2,40,000. Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Those sketches are excellent, but check out those rear doors which look too small in the 1st drawing. Jeep should also offer it as a 2 door (With accessible rear seats) and enhance the looks, desirability (will need 4x4) of this product & establishing its own USP. If above is done then i see this could become a potential Suzuki Jimny rival (Globally) Needs body on frame construction though. But is Jeep India a risk taker ? Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() The news article looks like just another of usual baseless click-magnet type articles to generate hits & get advertisement money. Absolutely no credible details. And we have been waiting for the so called Jeep sub4m SC-SUV since so long, that nobody will be interested in it anymore even if it arrives. Jeep has lost the plot big time. Also - looking at the time Jeep took to launch usable automatics & off road capable variants of the Compass (a real global product), talking of a 4x4 capable sub4m car is really preposterous. Whoever wrote that article on Yahoo has really optimistic outlook and vivid imagination with 0 connect to reality. |
