General Motors India recalls 1.14 lakh units of the Tavera

This notice came in today's marathi edition of Loksatta newspaper. I think it's for the same issue, but why put a fresh notice again?

It's in all major newspapers... it seems that many Tavera owners haven't got the vehicle attended to in recall campaign, due to which the company is forced to issue a public notice.

Though I haven't read the GoI's recall policy, I believe this notice could also be part of the statutory requirement.

Only 14,000 out of 1.14 lakh recalled units of Chevrolet Tavera fixed so far.
GM confirms that it has received the mandatory approvals for the BS4 engines and that it is doing its best to replace the faults for all units

It is barely 20 percent of the recall has been serviced, since the Tavera is more into the taxi segment, seems difficult to track the owners.

2/3rds of Tavera owners are from the tourist trade. They won't keep the car off the road for two days for this recall. Plus, their car is working fine (power & FE), so they don't see the need to change any parts.

GM's dealership turnover hasn't helped either.
