Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

Looks like the Fortuner and Rio had a baby. This seems more like a Duster/XUV rival than the Ecosport. It might compete with the Ford hatch if a sub 4m+ 5 seater version of it is launched.

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

It looks very basic and built to a price in the video, must be from Malaysia, even there 4x2 7 seaters do well, but I doubt this will do well in India unless it is priced below 10L at least.

Oh they are very much out there ! They are known as a certain LC 200.
Problem is at the asking rate of 1 CR plus, there are not what you would generally term as affordable.

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

Seems to be a very nice car. If launched here may eat up into the Innova sales. Looks are also standard Toyota. Only thing missing is rear bottle holders. Decent space and equipment levels too.

GTO would love to see this car here!

BTW, which is the black car next to the Innova?

EDIT:
Just kidding sir, hope you don't mind.

Nah!
I dont see that happening.
Innova is targeted at a different set of people. People who want space and reliability.
I do understand that the Rush isnt very spacious!

And secondly, the looks are NOT standard toyota.
Standard Toyota = Boring
Proof: Altis, Camry, Etios, Innova, Prado, Land Cruiser etc etc
Rush = not boring

Toyota Rush is not a head turner for sure. At this moment we don't know how it is going to take on products like Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and many other products which are in pipeline. Anyways Toyota has a huge fan following in India, so they won't find it difficult to sell.

Bottom lime is Small SUV/Crossovers are hot in India RIGHT now, No main stream manufacturer can ignore this fact. Suzuki, Toyota, Honda and even Tata has to have a product in this category. Let us see how fast each one can introduce their products in this segment..

To me it looks more like a RAV4 - front fenders, grill, real tail lights - the signs are all over. My guess is that Toyota will place this only a few lakhs below Fortuner (certainly above Innova). Whoever is wishing it to be around Duster price, my deepest sympathies!

Sorry my friend, but that hardly seems like a 'rip off'.

This is what I was talking about:

Well, on the price point, if Toyota brings in the age old Rush (under 4m) then they might aim at Duster - still I don't see sub 10L pricing coming from them. Oh, and about the quality of the car, what quality?!

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

Looks a bit like Fortuner. And the car looks old. But nothing that a good designer can't cure with some smart touches.

Interesting facts!
The second generation came in Dec 2006
The length is 4,055 mm.
Available as a 5 or 7 seater (long wheelbase with RWD)
Both AWD and 2WD

Considering all the above, I feel there is a good chance of this making it here. Interesting!

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

The interiors look very barebone. They would need to do much more to compete against Ecosport.
But if its a Toyota, and priced in the Ertiga range, it should see good sales. Anything in the region of 12-14 L will kill it for sure.

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

The Rush looks very much a cheaper RAV4, and personally i would not mind the looks. Interiors are no great shakes, but then neither are those from the Innova or the Fortuner.

At the right price point, i suppose this one should succeed. All Toyota needs to do is reskin the front a bit, and make it a bit more appealing, and it should be fine.

Sirji, if I'm not wrong, the link that you have given says both Daihatsu Be-go and Toyota Rush are re-badged version of one-another. More like the Pulse-Micra duo. What makes you say that Rush doesn't make sense while Be-go does?

Coming to the car itself, going by the compact-SUV craze that has caught up with the Indian sedan-buying class of people, this will definitely be a hit irrespective of its design. And, the design is also not that bad to evoke a look.

Re: Rumour: Compact SUV Toyota Rush (aka Daihatsu Rush) coming to India

The 'Rush' is nothing but a stretched Diahatsu Terios. Having driven one, I can safely say that the driving dynamics are nowhere close to an EcoSport or a Duster. Having said that, the cut-price, 7-seater Rush has success written all over it.

Since Toyota is known to feed us 'old wine in a new bottle', how about the previous generation RAV4, in lieu of the Rush?
