It's similar to the Kia Soul which is also based on the i20.
Now, this is confusing. Hyundai's product planners at the factory unveil specifically made references to the Elantra.

Cheers,

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

Just imagine the copy paste work that can be done here - Take Mobilio, Remove the last row seats, and reduce the length to < 4m. Add a few changes here and there, may be a start/stop button, AVN system with 7 inch screen etc, and you have a compact SUV!!
Hope Honda does not do this, and give customers a good alternative to Ecosport.

Same platform does not always mean same wheelbase. In fact wheelbase of Brio < that of Amaze < that of Mobilio. Same platform but 3 different wheelbases. Same goes with Swift and Ertiga - the wheelbase of Ertiga is more than than of Swift. I am sure this car will have the same wheelbase as Mobiilio and hence no question of problems with space. All positives and negatives regarding space might be carried forward from Mobilio.

I thought Ciaz was a different platform. Does Ciaz also belong to the Swift family?? However, this is and a discussion for another thread.

If I understand correctly, Creta is based on i20 platform. The Elantra references were probably because Creta uses the 1.6 CRDi Engine and auto gearbox from Elantra.

Based on the reports, this car will be a 7 seater and will NOT be sub-4m. So your assumption is already out of the window.

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

7 seater > 4m? Based on Brio platform. Something wrong here. Isn't this what mobilio is? Why would Honda build another similar vehicle?

Mobilio is an MPV competing against Ertiga. BRV is a mini SUV competing against Creta & Duster.

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

^ The front looks as good as the official renders

The side stance is good too, but somehow isn't as masculine as the renders.

Also the multi spoke wheel design doesn't seem to go with the SUV image.

Lets wait for more pics

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

Too much of Chrome in front Grill is spoiling the bold look of BRV. Hope it comes with some changes in the production version.

Too much chrome means this is exactly what is coming to India

Aren't the design cues a little odd? Honda might just have something new on its hand altogether - a cross breed between an SUV and a Station Wagon.

If Mahindra had to name it - this would probably be called the SUW.

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

One more spy pic of the BR-V, this time in White shade with it's bonnet up, ahead of tomorrow's big unveil.

Front headlamps and central chrome grille look inspired partly from the Storme & the Mobilio, while the Mobilio influence is very much evident in the front bumper and side profile section.

Re: Honda to develop Brio-based compact SUV

While the front looks amazing, the sides from the mobilio just don't gel. But I'll wait for more pics to pass a judgment.
I really do hope they've improved the interiors, otherwise this car will be DOA.
