Though this is an old news, I am loving this CUV. If this is the car they are bringing to India, it should create more ripples than any other car from Fiat.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Fiat displays the 'Great Cross' at the ongoing Shanghai Auto show.

Speculation arise whether this will be the CUV that will cater to the boom of the CUV market in Asia?

In the absence of an SUV in the Fiat range, to ride the wave of this type that even in the Asian country is slowly mounting
In short it is the "Cross" version of Ottimo, which is nothing more than the hatchback version of the Viaggio, offered only to the Chinese market. The conventional Ottimo variants are equipped with the 1.4 liter T-Jet with 120 or 150 horsepower coupled with a manual or automated exchange DCT dual-clutch.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Doesn't look very much different from the Avventura.. It will be worthwhile if Fiat consider getting the Fiat 500X. Soon. Not 2-3 years later.

Another Fiat rumour thread that needn't exist for years..

Might be worth while merging this with the Fiat India Strategy thread..

Vapourware....till it actually arrives on the showroom floor

On a lighter note: mods could setup an automatic lock script for FIAT product discussions, with manual unlock post launch.

volkman: no offence, please

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

The rear of the test mule looks so similar to the Elite i20's. Is it that the Hyundai has become truly European or Fiat is going the Korean way

On a serious note, the vehicle looks butch and aggressive but not too different from Avventura (Thats not a bad thing BTW). Lets see if this is actually coming to India (as I dont see this anywhere in the Fiat's road-map that was shared in this forum). And if it actually does, will it look similar or with a lot of Chrome jobs and quality cuts.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

I don't think there will be a new CUV in 2016. My guess is 1.5 MJD will find it's way in Avventura. Tjet and bigger Multijet will give them power advantage over rivals.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

The SUV called X3U project that would be produced from 2017 from the Fiat brand.
This project though seem not on the priority list of FCA.

Quote:
The model would be derived from the pickup 226 the look of the truck whose lines were revealed
Based on the above the X3U is rendered.

*Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016-fiat_suv_x3u_1.jpg

Quote:
The X3U will use the 1.8 engine E.torQ rendering 130cv of power at 5,000 rpm and torque 18,6kgfm the 3.500rpm when fueled with petrol. Now ethanol in the power tank is 132cv the 5.250rpm and torque 19,1kgfm the 3.750rpm. In this case, the SUV will feature manual transmission options five-speed and six-speed automatic

But the diesel engine is the 2.0 Turbo Diesel rendering 170cv power and torque of the 3.750RPM 35,7kgfm the 1.750RPM. This engine ever work with the automatic transmission nine speeds

I find it a bit amusing to discuss the possibilities of Fiat CUV launching in 2016, at least in India.

Fiat have failed to bring major replacement/refreshment of Linea till date and even there is no confirmation on launch of FIAT Aegea in near future, which at least have been displayed in Istanbul Motor Show 2015.

The Fiat doesn't resemble the Elite i20's rear, it takes cue from its sister company's car the "Alfa Romeo Giulietta".

It's the Korean's who are going the European way!!!!!!!

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Fiat India SUV to launch C-SUV in 2017.

The C-SUV from Jeep is expected to be priced around INR 15 lakhs and will compete with SUVs like Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and also the upcoming Toyota Rush.

The new ‘C-SUV’, as Fiat call it, will be manufactured in 2017. This SUV will most likely be a new vehicle, which is slated to start production in Brazil in 2016, codenamed 551. The Jeep 551 shares much of its mechanical structure including suspension systems with the Jeep Renegade, but is expected to be longer than the Renegade. Engine options include a 2.0-litre petrol motor with 156bhp and a similar capacity Multijet II diesel motor, yielding 170bhp. The engine specifications for India are yet not known. The SUV will also come in a 4X4 version. We have earlier shared pictures of a production ready body of the SUV which was spied in Brazil. The global SUV will be unveiled in India itself and this will happen around the end of 2016 or early 2017.
Quote:
To start with, the C-SUV will be exported to South Africa, Britain, Australia and some of the south-east Asian countries and will scale up gradually. Fiat has already started work on an exclusive dealer network for Jeep in five pilot cities. The company is also identifying suppliers and key component vendors for sourcing the parts for the new product. It will start by selling the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler, both of which will be imported as CBUs (completely built units). The operations will commence in 2016 and the the vehicles will also be showcased at the Auto Expo in early 2016.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

If Fiat is indeed making the 1.5L Diesel engine, they will earn more with their licensing fees for the engine than from any of the rumoured Fiat cars.
Our MS, Tata etc would be waiting for such engines. How long can they go with the 1248cc Diesel engines? In Ertiga, Maruti has used a bigger petrol engine, but has stuck to 1248cc Diesel for example.
I am not sure the diesel engines that MS developing are giving them any great success either - think about the 2 cyl, 800cc turbo diesel for Celerio!
To take full advantage of the 1.5L diesel excise duty cap, our market needs Fiat to develop 1.5L diesel, even if Fiat doesn't need the engine!

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Fiat India's upcoming Jeep 551 SUV could look a lot like this rendering by Autos Segredos:

*Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016-projecao_jeep_551_pernambucano.jpg

*Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016-projecao_jeep_551_pernambucano_1.jpg

Quote:
These rendered images by Autosegredos provides an insight into how this SUV may look. As reported earlier, Fiat wants the new SUV to look like a mini Jeep Cherokee and the images depict that aspect.

The Jeep 551 is based on the same platform as the soon to be launched Fiat Toro pick-up truck and it will globally replace the Jeep Compass and Jeep Liberty.

The Jeep 551 shares much of its mechanical structure including suspension systems with the Renegade and Toro. Engine options known as of now, include a 2.0 litre petrol motor with 156bhp and a similar capacity Multijet II diesel motor, yielding 170bhp. This will supposedly be mated to a six-speed manual as well as a new nine-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV will also come in a 4X4 version. The 551 is larger in size than the Jeep Renegade.

Re: *Rumour* - Fiat CUV with 1.5L Diesel in 2016

Wouldn't they be better if they bring these UVs in Jeep brand rather than Fiat? I am not sure if Fiat could ever taste big success in India. They have not been wanting in engine department either.

Its not just the car but the service that could let them down.
