Re: Shocked! Another car with my number!

Idiot buys a Jaguar, but doesn't have the decency to register it!

Kochi: A luxury car belonging to a businessman finally landed in police station after repeated offences for over eight months. The car, Jaguar XF, with temporary registration had come under police lens after the vehicle was caught on highway cameras for speeding. However, the 'challans' for the offence were being served to another person who had the same number.

I was advised by a dealer in Kochi that the number in the board should be as in the Registration Certificate, for the region as well as number. If the RC shows 553 then board also has to be only 553 and not 0553. Earlier the RC used to be KL 7 which is now KL 07.
I am sporting 07 & 424 as in the RC.

This is the HSRP system used in Japan - the missing digits are marked with embossed dots. Moreover, the last two digits are separated by a hyphen. The size of the digits is bigger than the letters. I find it more readable than equally spaced and sized letters and digits on the HSRP pattern we use in India.

IMO, get it changed to the correct format ASAP.

Yup. Got it done and I also saw that other cars with 3 digits from the same dealer were also missing zeros in the number plate. Either the guy is not aware of the rules (which I doubt) or he doesnt really care/bother about this

Yes and as per the RC it actually read 0553 while the dealer mentioned only 553. SO got the plates changed

Re: Shocked! Another car with my number!

I have heard about this malpractice esp in commercial vehicles where procuring permits tend to be more expensive but seems like it is getting too out of control . Only solution i see to get rid of this problem is by installation of HSRP properly done with the riveting pan India.

But why would one not register a car? It's sure not to escape challans. There is something more to this than the eyes meet. The ₹400 challans should be short change for someone owning a Jaguar.

Re: Shocked! Another car with my number!

Speaking of people who havent bothered registering their high end vehicles, I spotted an unregistered 2013 Kawasaki ZX10R for sale in Bangalore that has done an astounding 14,000 kms and is up for sale on Quikr. The only explanation that I can possibly think of is that this has been used only for track use but 14,000 kms of just that seems unlikely.

Unregistered would mean that the bike has no insurance, correct? To top things off, here are the accessories of the bike - Akrapovic shorty slip on with mid pipe - R & G frame sliders - R & G tail tidy - R & G radiator guard - R & G under radiator grille - R & G front fork sliders - R & G rear spools - Lumito seat cover - Puig dark smoke windscreen. The current rider (technically he isnt the owner, is he?) had the cash to spend on all that but not to register it. How does one go about taking this up with the concerned authorities?

Link to the bike is http://bangalore.quikr.com/2013-Kawa...AdIdZ238522641

Re: Shocked! Another car with my number!

Yesterday in Thrissur, a customer leaving a hotel saw this, two vehicles with same number. He immediately took a snap and forwarded it to the whatsapp number of the MVD in Thrissur. Police landed up quite swiftly and took both vehicles into custody. The Honda City appears to be the rightful owner of the number, and the I10 is the culprit. Investigations are in progress.
