Thanks RavenAvi for the pics.

If the dashboard is all black (as in the pics), that will be quite a disappointment. The European i20 has Brown (in place of the beige in India) + Black dash and that combined with the brown door trims looked absolutely smashing in pictures. I was expecting that to be adapted in the i20 Active. But all black looks monotonous and not at all special.

And is it Orange or Red?? That also looks over-done - especially on the gear knob. Not sure what Hyundai is trying and who is the target customer for this.

In addition, ACI reports via various tweets, that the i20 Active will come with two interior colour schemes - a two-tone blue & black scheme, and an all-black scheme with orange inserts.

Also, the gear ratios have been tweaked which has resulted in better low-end responses from both engines - petrol and diesel.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

So looks like it was a proper media drive. ACI, OD, AutoX and some other magazines were also present there. Not sure if our Mods were also there.

Overdrive has already posted its review which is unbelievably short and non-detailed and picture gallery

I am just listing some of the interesting bits which were not known to us before.
  • 2 Interior trims - Blue + Black dual tone and Black interiors with Orange trim - as posted by RavenAvi in the previous post
  • Fog lamp has cornering lamp function
  • GC is 190 mm which is less than Avventura and Ecosport but higher than Cross Polo and Etios Cross
  • OD says the body-roll is much controlled and less than other Cross cars
  • Revised gear-ratios + slightly different tuning results in better low-end drivability
  • There will be less variants - probably 2 each for petrol and diesel
  • Satin finish fuel cap and roof rails - not sure if the roof rails is functional
  • Sporty aluminium ABC pedals

These were all I could gather from the pics and reviews up to this point of time.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

ACI review is out.

Quote:
On the inside, the design and the equipment list are as before, but the colour palette is a bit different. On cars with lighter exterior paint shades like white or silver, the i20 Active gets blue and beige two-tone upholstery. On cars with darker exterior colours – including the new brown colour you see here – there’s a funkier looking theme – all black with certain accents finished in orange, including the gear lever; very sporty. It’s also worth noting that the petrol car isn’t available in the fully loaded trim, so you’ll miss out on some equipment, like push-button start, automatic climate control and a passenger airbag.
The 1.4-litre CRDi motor with 89bhp is still smooth, very refined and loves to rev in a manner most unlike a diesel engine. The light, six-speed manual gearbox can be left in a higher gear at lower-than-average revs, and the car will move forward with little hesitation. It’s still a pretty strong performer too, and as for the improved responses, it does feel a touch more urgent than before, but we’ll have to put it up against our timing gear to tell you just how much. The bump in low end responses are even less apparent in the petrol, but this still remains one of the peppier units amongst the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated units in India.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

A clearer look at the blue-black dual-tone interior combination of the i20 Active, for the White & Silver external shades:

Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross-hyundaii20activebluedashboard.jpg

Earlier-gen Figo-ish in similarity, looking extremely tacky, cheap and plasticky.

If you ask me, the all-black interiors with orange inserts looks better than the above. This will be on offer with the darker colours. At least it looks bright and vibrant, and will appeal to the youth a bit more.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

The news that there isn't a petrol top end (especially no version with passenger airbag) is a let down for me. Here I was hoping Hyundai would give us at least an option of 6 air bags in their 'sports styled vehicle'.
Back to the i20 Petrol ASTA waiting list.

Yes RavenAvi. Blue looks tacky and totally un-Hyundai like. Why this desperation? After looking at the blue, the orange actually looks better (which initially looked overdone to me). I still wonder why the beautiful Brown was not provided to us

Is the fuel consumption details displayed in the MID of the i20 Active?

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

This is one fine looking cross car. The additional ground clearance surely helps and changed gear ratios is thoughtful change.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

The silver and white shades look okay-ish, the rest of the darker shades probably not so much. The interiors are plain gaudy. Is it just me or does the regular Elite look and feel much classier than the Active?

This Hyundai crossover looks overdone in my view. I'd put my money on the Avventura instead.

Re: Scoop! Hyundai testing i20 Cross

From the pics, the orange inserts look like those cheap wood design stickers that you get for car dashboard and console.
But seriously hyundai, black with orange inserts and blue black?
Why could not you just get the brown interior scheme that is available on the international version? It looks so classy!
Is hyundai kind of testing new interior colors, to see the market response, for their future products?
I mean the i20 active interior color schemes are so non-hyundaish!

From what may be seen in the images, the regular i20 Elite seems classier, no doubt. To me the front end mimics the Etios Cross o a certain extent. But we have to wait till we see the car in flesh.

A little Korean flourish, maybe

But again, let us see the real car first and then take a call.

And those silver roof rails look tacky.

I showed my better half the pictures of this car - she's in the market for a "cross"- hatch, and couldn't tell this Active from the Etios Cross from the front!
Surprise, she likes the Etios Cross among the current crop!

The Etios Cross is peppier to drive as well, unless i20 Active's gear ratios have been vastly improve, which as per the available online reviews doesn't seem to be the case.

Its only the interiors (subjective again) where Etios lacks finesse. Its so cheap to maintain as well....
