I personally don’t think it will work, as these things don’t go hand-in-hand.

Performance + safety --> Vehicle becomes costly, thus not VFM in Indian perspective
Economy (mileage) + VFM --> No guaranteed safety (I mean NCAP ratings), and no spirited performance
Performance + Mileage + safety + VFM --> Sorry, No vehicle in India

So, it is better to leave up to the buyer to choose as per his/her need, and safety ratings will help him to choose the right one if buyer is inclined towards safety.

Now I feel its the Tata which deserve number one place in India for their constant efforts in improving the products, not the Maruti.

Are the frustrating quality control policies which are responsible behind Mr. Mayan Pareek's resignation form Maruti joining in Tata motors for their constant innovative efforts?
Why oh why wouldn't Tata take advantage of the NCAP rating scandal and stage a media coup by stressing on safety and denting Maruti's image for defending their tin cans in the media !!

Glad to see Brio numbers going up, its one of those cars that is VFM especially at high end http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/images...s/Clapping.gif. Waiting for people to start realizing there are things more important that boot space and rear AC in a hatch.

The company had sold 49,681 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.

Re: October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Wow .. Elite i20 selling 10500 !!! But its a nice car we must admit. They have made it really cool, long thought process must have gone into. It looks like some small car from Audi, BMW or Merc. It looks quite sexy in red, my personal choice. I like its front the most, looks very sporty & aggressive & stylish.

Maruti doing business as usual. Still i guess they have few less numbers than normal i guess. Need to wait for detailed report.

Looks like Honda's numbers for Amaze and Mobilio have settled down at the 3.5K range. City back from the break!

Re: October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

I guess Honda & Maruti are fighting in 3 cars mainly. Currently war is on between Amaze Vs Dzire, here Amaze has lost the battle & no recovery seen in near future. Poor interiors is the main reason i guess. Ertiga Vs Mobilio is interesting one, currently Ertiga is winner & looks like in future as well it will win. I am expecting facelift for Ertiga in within one year now as it almost completed 3 years in the market. If it comes up with some of its shortcomings handled, it will win hands down. Mobilio already loosing before 6 months in the market, may be same interiors has spoiled its party. Last battle between City Vs Ciaz is interesting one. Last month Ciaz won, this month City again moved ahead. Ciaz still facing some issues in delivery i guess. Also their top end models are still not available. We will get clear picture only after 3-4 months when both companies has sorted out delivery constraints.

Got some data for some of the companies.

Happy to see Tata numbers rising. Ford, GM going south only. Mahindra also struggling little bit now. They need compact SUV soon.

Re: October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Eagerly awaiting the complete Nov 2014 picture. Overall the auto sector doesn't look to be out of troubles, but the top three and a few others like Tata and Toyota have some reason to cheer up. Sad to see Ciaz lose to the City in the second month itself. Hopefully it is just a delivery constraint and will be glad to see it get sorted out soon.

Re: October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Ciaz vs City. There is little to think about. City is a trusted product for the last 16 years. Successful in every iteration.

Till Maruti does a big bang acquisition, it's cars in the 9+ lac segment will show some strength in the short run, but in the long run die out to competition.

Many reasons to it:

1. Design - Not liked by all
2. Engine - Underpowered for the segment
3. VFM - I wouldn't bet my million on a Maruti

Re: October 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Maruti going strong in November too.

During November 2014, Maruti sold a total of 100,024 cars (November 2013: 85,510). The Ciaz sedan, launched in October 2014 gave a fillip to sales in the midsize sedan category selling 5,232 units.

For Honda, the City top-scored with a sales of 7,252 units, outselling its rival the Ciaz. The Mobilio and Amaze sold 3,589 and 3,310 units respectively.

Hyundai's Elite i20 found 10,500 new owners during the month.

Ford India's, India sales were down from October sales by 28%.

Look at the American Brands! Fading into Oblivion!

Hopefully December sales will be better across the board as the fuel prices have given a unexpected boost!
