I couldn't agree more! In fact, not to put too fine a point on it....all sub-4m wannabe SUVs (i.e. without AWD/4WD) look more or less alike to me! I mean there's just so much that one can do with the dimensional parameters already pre-set. A couple of flourishes at the front, a few creases here and there, perhaps a different-looking rear door handle - and you have a new C-SUV! Granted that the TUV300 (ahem!) broke the mould, at least in the domestic market, but apart from that one example, they all look alike to me.

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

In an imaginary conversation with Maruti Suzuki India (MS), I said, taking a look at the Nissan Kicks pictures, "Hey, that is how the Baleno would have looked, if it had better looking headlamps.".

MS replied, "Dude! That's how the next gen 2017 Swift looks"

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

The Kicks is just the kind of product Nissan require to revive their dwindling sales in India. It looks smart & stylish, yet it's a please-all & offend-none kind of design. Its length of 4.29 m means the Kicks cannot be shortened to make it duck under the 4 m mark to take on the EcoSport and Vitara Brezza. Hence, it's a natural candidate to replace the badge-engineered Terrano in India and compete against the Creta, S-Cross etc.

It doesn't have the Terrano's main drawback (Dacia-derived interiors) and being a Nissan product, it doesn't have to be deliberately priced above its twin from Renault. If Nissan can load it with safety, convenience & connectivity features, give it enough powertrain options and price it below the Creta, the Kicks can draw a substantial number of Creta & S-Cross buyers into Nissan showrooms.

The Kicks has the potential to succeed in a segment where its predecessor Terrano couldn't.

Maybe they could rename their service centers as

Kick - Authorised Service Stations.

Would help with the perception at least - will get the crowd talking and if they actually manage to improve the after sales experience, nothing like it!

Looks like a baby Rogue; in fact the face and rear look identical to the Rogue! Which is not a bad thing - the current Rogue looks just fine.

Lets just hope that Nissan dont think more of themselves than the market does, while pricing this.

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Nissan must bring this into India asap. It seems the group is more focussed towards Renault and Datsun and Nissan has taken a back seat. Maybe this is because the new generation Sunny and Micra aren't due until end of the year and they don't want to waste money marketing the current gen cars (duds!).

The Kicks can Kick the competition in the wrong places as the interior is pretty decent and the exterior is close to wow. Pricing should be smart as Nissan doesn't get that wrong generally.

Looks great, but if true May 2018 is too late in the game.
Nissan has a host of global SUV platform - not sure why they are not bringing these to life here in India.

By 2018 who knows the current fad of compact SUV's might also slow down as everybody starts owning these, and we may want something bigger !!

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

Why does Nissan launches it's every product so late in India?
The Kick is scheduled for a May 2018 Launch, the X-Trail was launched way back in 2014 but is still not here. There is no news on Micra and Sunny replacement, the Terrano hasn't received a facelift till now. What are these guys even doing in the country?
One may say they are improving the after sales and dealership networks but that too isn't getting evident. The service is still the same as earlier!

Kicks is priced around 30% costlier than Renault Duster in Brazil (R$89,000 against R$66,490). If it is launched in India, it will be costlier than Creta. And the new gen Duster is also growing in size to 7-seater, which will be priced higher. Is these circumstances, who will fight for them in the compact SUV segment in 7 - 10L range? Any other expected product?

re: The Nissan Kicks Crossover. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 9.55 lakhs

As per Indian Autos Blog, the Kicks Compact SUV costs from INR 17.24 lakhs in Brazil and will go on sale on 5th August.
Expecting the price to be on the similar range when it debuts in India though a lot depends on how Nissan equips the vehicle and powers it with which engine! If it gets the same Renault Duster's petrol and diesel motors with an average feature list, It's dead on arrival. The vehicle is undoubtedly a looker and will create it's own niche but with an average feature list, five seats and old engines it won't justify the high price tag which the vehicle is going to command as it will be positioned above Terrano and Duster.
Btw, the Brazilian Version seems to be pretty well kitted with 17 inch Alloys, Leather Seats with 'Zero Gravity technology', keyless entry with push start, Infotainment system with GPS and 360 Degree Camera. Hope all these features makes it to the Indian shores!

The Hyundai Creta is the benchmark in the 12-17 lakh 5 seater Crossover/ SUV segment. The Terrano and the Duster twins are only marginally cheaper, with the Terrano being almost at par with the Creta. So where would they position the Kicks? And secondly, what car is it based on? Is it derived from an all new platform or is going to be Based on the micra/ Sunny? Somehow I don't see any gap in Nissan's offering which the Kicks will address. Either they got to drop the Terrano and plug the kicks or bring it as a sub 4 meter Compact SUV to compete with the ecosport and brezza.
