Three things which caught my attention from those latest Vikatan spyshots:

1) Dual Zone Climate Control (possibly a first for it's segment)
2) Very premium set of steering-mounted control buttons (looks really fab)
2) Tyre size as reported (215/55/R17) - grippy, sporty in handling and decently comfortable. Not sure how the XUV300's suspension is tuned and how good those Apollos are (Aspire?), but generally tyres in this size are quite decent performers on all sorts of road conditions, be it wet or dry.

Looks like the 300 will be quite the package when launched.

So this baby XUV along with Tata H5 should really challenge the likes of creta which has been earning fat margins for Hyundai. Very interesting year 2019 will be

Yes and not to forget, we are going to have the following as well:-
1. Kia's SP Concept - Diwali 2019
2. Suzuki's Vitara - Seen testing around, so launch is close.
3. Honda's next SUV (after launch of CRV)-Q1 2020
4. Volkswagen/Skoda's first in Vision X- Q1 2021
5. Jeep's next (based on Renegade?)
6. I read somewhere in the forum, that Ford-Mahindra are also going to launch an SUV in this segment.

Creta will finally see some competition in coming years

Mahinda's Compact SUV spied again,
Quote:
The steering wheel is the same as the KUV100. The centre console gets a large touchscreen system, which is probably an 8-inch one. The knobs and buttons are placed below the screen. The interiors are different from the Ssangyong Tivoli. There is a compartment above the touchscreen, on the dashboard. It has a flip-opening lid as well. The ORVMs have turn indicators on them.

This SUV will also get new taillamps which are unlike he Tivoli’s.

re: The Mahindra XUV300, aka Ssangyong Tivoli. Edit: Launched @ 7.9 lakhs

Just saw the S201/SSangyong Tivoli testing near my office. My guess is was Continental guys testing the engine control systems since it's next to my office.

Managed to peek into the interiors and saw a 6 speed gearbox with decent interior quality. The steering had the Ssangyong badge covered. This wasn't the redesigned version we have been seeing. Engine was a 1.2L Turbo petrol.

From these images the sticker seems to indicate a G1.6? I'm assuming that's a 1.6L petrol? Sorry I don't see where the engine capacity is mentioned.

I wouldn't mind an NA 1.6 - would be much more driveable and hopefully the simplicity would negate the tax implications. If wishes were wings...

G16 is a SsangYong Engine. The current spec of this vehicle is with 1.6L Petrol in other markets. Not sure if M&M is going to offer G16 NA & G15 Turbocharged. I would like a Turbo charged petrol!

The first shot is taken from inside your Ecosport?

Seems to be standing tall when compared to the Tivoli.

So, the Tivoli-based compact SUV from Mahindra isn't going to be a badge-engineered model. Mahindra appears to be readying this as a mini XUV5OO. The grille and taillights are pretty similar to the one on Mahindra's flagship.

Here are fresh shots of the car captured on its test run in Chennai.

re: The Mahindra XUV300, aka Ssangyong Tivoli. Edit: Launched @ 7.9 lakhs

I think this was the car I spotted today on the way back home from office. The good part was I was on my Ninja and the car was stuck in traffic. But the bad part was I was fully geared and didn't have an action camera. Hence I went ahead of the car and the traffic was crawling enough for me to stop the bike, remove the phone and take pictures. The interiors were exactly as spied but the rear was very similar to the Brezza with the tail lights of the face lift XUV. Dimensions and road presence are very similar to Brezza, except for the bonnet which is higher. The one in test is a petrol going by the engine sound and exhaust drone. Even though I drove beside it for a long time examining the interiors, the driver did not bother to escape, or maybe the car wasn't peppy enough to get ahead. It was driven very casually.

In my view there are 2 possibilities

One, Mahindra has developed the Tivoli in India from ground up and almost all of it is brand new including chassis, platform, engine and transmissions. This would then be used as base for 1-2 more products.

Or, Mahindra has decided to just take inspiration from the Tivoli for the body shell and used an existing platform, possible even an existing engine. This could save costs and would find a lot more synergies with what they already have.

We have to wait for some credible source on the actual though.

Spotted: Kia SP / Stonic derivate- Sub 4 metre SUV being developed for India

Spotted the sub 4 metre being-developed-for-India Kia SP / Kia Stonic Derivate heavily disguised. The SP Concept displayed at shows was heavily modified being a concept. Regular production models should be substantially toned down.

The car was being tested on the Salem - Coimbatore Highway.

They slowed down when I started taking pics. Had to finally stop to get some pics.

This looks more like a Ssangyong Tivoli - being tested under Mahindra badge. Are you sure this is a Kia - as I could not find any relevant signage with KIA around ?
