Big shout-out to Anshuman & Eddy for their coverage and photographs.

Volkswagen's Auto Expo display mirrored the same clean and simple design language we see in their cars.

Polo GTI

The Polo GTI (1.8 TSI) has just been presented at the Auto Expo.

We'll update this post once the coverage comes in!

Tiguan
• VW aim to "enhance their product range" in the Indian market with the Tiguan SUV
• This is the new Tiguan which was internationally unveiled just 4 months ago
• It is based on the MQB platform (same platform as the new Passat, Octavia, etc)
• Under its hood, lies a 2.0L TSI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox
• Base version is front-wheel-drive, while the higher spec puts down 177 BHP through an all-wheel-drive system

No mistaking the VW family premium front grille:

Personally, I think she's gorgeous!
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-02-aaa_1943.jpg

The 2016 Tiguan is ~60 mm longer and 30 mm wider than the old model. The wheelbase has increased by 76 mm too:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-04-aaa_1939.jpg

Take a look at those DRLs:

Muscular ripples on the hood:

The contouring on the hood from another angle:

20" rims on the display car:

Plain rear end has a bit of an old-X5 feel to it:

Note the detailing in the tail-lights:

By-the-book VW interiors:

Eddy felt like the dash was a sea of grey, and it could have been a little richer:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-16-aaa_1946.jpg

The fully-loaded spec was on display. Note the terrain select dial for different off-road modes. It gets a start/stop button too:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-17-aaa_1947.jpg

Adjustable rear air-con, USB & 12V sockets too:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-18-aaa_1948.jpg

The interiors felt just slightly roomier than the Yeti and Q3, with good headroom. The rear seat reclines like the Skoda Yeti:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-19-aaa_1949.jpg

Seat tray. Interestingly, the Tiguan gets curtain airbags and grab handles (not shown in this pic):
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-20-aaa_1950.jpg

No sunroof...
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-21-aaa_1952.jpg

...though it gets roof storage boxes, just like the Tata Aria:
Volkswagen @ Auto Expo 2016-22-aaa_1952.jpgx-aaa_1951.jpg

Gesture opening of the boot (as seen on the Passat too). If your hands are full, move your foot below the rear of the car, and the boot opens:

Extremely neatly packed spare tyre and tools:

A parting shot. It's not a very tall vehicle, but it sure has a nice stance:

Polo & Vento
• In September 2015, Volkswagen updated the Polo with features like electric foldable door mirrors, cruise control and a cooled glovebox
• VW has yet-again equipped the Polo and Vento with more features such as a new touchscreen infotainment system (with Mirror link, I-pod connectivity, phonebook / SMS viewer), rain-sensing wipers and an auto dimming interior rear view mirror
• The Vento also gets LED head lamps with LED DRLs

LED Headlamps are a rare sight this side of the A8 & S-Class:

Thread moved out from the Assembly Line section.

LED headlamps on the Vento - man, that is some upgrade! In its segment, the Vento has now become a benchmark compared to its peers IMO.

Also noticed the Ameo, Polo and Vento with the aero wiper blades. Good addition there!

Also noticed the Jetta with the LED tail lights and the Bluemotion moniker below the TDI badge. Bluemotion after the dieselgate scandal? :p

So that LED headlamps on the Vento with DRL's was not for export markets. Nice addition. VW did not mention it in the press release for the updated Polo and Vento. That is weird.

Is it only the LED DRL or does it also get the projector setup. From the pictures it is not clear

HI Gannu

What is mentioned is it has got headlamps with LED DRLs not LED headlamps. I don't think the vento will get LED headlamps when the Jetta and the PAssat doesn't have it

From the spy pics and discussion in this thread does look like a LED headlamp cluster. But not very clear from the image above.

Edit: Confirmed from the VW India Website News section

To delight the customer's in-vehicle experience, Volkswagen has evolved rapidly to provide new offerings in the Polo and Vento which will enhance their daily driving experience. Adding a dash of convenience are intelligent systems like rain sensing wipers – auto dimming IRVM, Dynamic touchscreen multimedia system with Mirror link, I-pod connectivity, phonebook / SMS viewer which will optimize the driving environment and comfort. – class leading features. Additionally, Volkswagen Vento will be equipped with stunning and innovative LED head lamps with LED DRLs.(Daytime running Lights)
What an understated way to reveal a good new feature. :)

How ugly can the Ameo get.

In our language(Bengali), Ameo means "Me".
Even the name doesnt sound correct.
It sounds as if it signals "Ameo Achchi"- "Even I am there" when competing with a Polo.

The Polo still makes better sense now with this launch!!

If this is true then it really is a big one. I checked the website on the Vento's features, it is updated with all the new features for the Vento like touch screen HU and rain sensing wipers but no mention of LED headlamp or for that matter even the LED DRLs. I am at a loss as to what VW is doing. How can they be so unorganised.

Another thing i noticed the Ameo will get a rear view camera but the more expensive Vento doesn't look like it is getting one although the HU is the same :Frustrati

Ah i was OK till yesterday with the changes made, but the LED DRL's in the Vento is something i would have really wanted and desired. Now the 42K price hike seems justified. Though i am sure if i would have bought it i would have still swapped the HU.

Let me call my SA and see the option if it can be purchased as an accessory.
