Verna to be showcased by Hyundai dealers (Delhi) today

Just got a PowerPoint presentation from Hyundai about the Verna. The gist:

Petrol version
- 1.6 litre 16 Valves engine detuned to 103.2 bhp and 14.9 kgm torque @ 3000 rpm
- Max Power to weight ratio of 93.82 PS/Ton
- Max Torque to weight ratio of 13.55 Kgm/Ton

Diesel version:
- Diesel engine (1.5) as expected - 110 bhp and a class leading torque of 24 kgm @ 1900~2750 rpm!!!
- Max Power to weight ratio of 94.02 PS/Ton
- Max Torque to weight ratio of 20.51 Kgm/Ton

No doubt the diesel version is meaty, but it is expected to be priced more than a lakh or so above the petrol version. The petrol version is expected to start at around 6.80 lakhs.

Direct comparison with the new Honda City (ZX and Vtec). So Hyundai is making no bones about who their immediate competitor is. Will get the exact price details by evening.

Mods please advise if I can upload the PowerPoint presentation for the benefit of the forum, especially the new car buyer.

I like those specs, but that price is a bit high. If the base price of the petrol is about 6.8 lakhs (ex-showroom), the diesel will be on-road for about 8.5-9 lakhs! Whats going on with the market? Can't we have a good, powerful car in the 5-6 lakh range.

The diesel is about 50K more than the accent crdi. I doubt they could have priced it below the accent. I guess by dec with discounts it should be 7.5L ex showroom.
