Rumours running around the internet suggest that Mahindra has applied trademark for an utility vehicle known as TUV500 and the possibilities of the spotted test mule being that same product cannot be neglected. It was captured testing alongside the Toyota Innova Crysta which is the benchmark MPV in the Indian auto industry

Re: Mahindra plans new mass-market SUV; eyes lowest-price slot

This looks very similar to the Innova. Has a menacingly butch stance from my point of view. I already have two products from the Mahindra stable. Surely i am going to keep my eyes peeled for this one. As far as the mass market Bolero is concerned, it's more rural centric. This one looks a bit more sophisticated

Re: Mahindra plans new mass-market SUV; eyes lowest-price slot

The article says;

Quote:
Mahindra TUV500 MPV likely to replace Xylo in India however the spied vehicle could be the taxi version of Innova
With that grill, I don't think this is a Toyota. Also, I don't think the rumoured TUV 500 will be an MUV.
After marketing TUV 300 as a "tank", TUV 500 should at least be something that can take down an aircraft .
This looks more like Next-gen Xylo, or the one that would replace it.

All depends on what M&M want to do with the "Xylo" brand.

This is more in sync with an article on Motorbash I had read earlier.

Re: Mahindra plans new mass-market SUV; eyes lowest-price slot

Except for the shorter bonnet, the car looks like the Innova till the C-pillar. Is Mahindra ready to replace the Xylo with this? Might be. Will it be called the TUV 500? I doubt.

The TUV stands for "tough utility vehicle," hence using the SUVs name for an MPV doesn't make sense.

This looks like Mahindra's answer to Tata's Hexa. And I'm sure Mahindra will launch this in market much before Hexa launch!

Re: Mahindra plans new mass-market SUV; eyes lowest-price slot

If I remember correctly, TUV platform has body on frame chassis, if this is the case, Mahindra is repeating their mistake again, If they really want to give customers a good MPV alternative, It has to be monocoque, dynamics and (dis) comfort of body on frame XYLO is one big reasons for its failure.

Chennai and TN registered - I doubt it would be a Mahindra. Most probably a Ford or a Hyundai?

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

It could be a Mahindra as their Research and development Wing is located in Chennai. The grille is a give away. Also I don't think M & M is doing a mistake with the chassis. The MPVT needs to carry load and the ladder frame chassis is the best bet to do so.They need to get the balance right

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

No doubt that the resounding success of the new Innova Crysta despite the twin ban in sales in Delhi/NCR & Kerala has buoyed Mahindra to fast-track this product.

I bet they have shortlisted their all-new MPV for a launch before next year-end.

With Mahindra's nationwide network and a product which could carry 7 passengers with ease and might be loaded to the gills with contemporary features similar to the XUV500, I foresee this MPV to be a big success.

Since the Innova (Crysta) enjoys a monopolistic success in the segment/price-band it plys in, it's high time a competitor arose to challenge it's might. Here's to hoping Mahindra plays it's cards right and prices their MPV well to snatch some customers away from India's national MPV (at the moment).

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Looks butch and menacing with those vertical grills. In my opinion it resembles a lot to the Renault Lodgy rather than the Innova due to the low ground clearance. Also it looks like a well proportioned MPV specially in terms of length unlike the Xylo which looked a bit odd with a higher ground clearance and shorter length.

P.S- For all we know it could be a facelifted Renault Lodgy itself!

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Looks much more proportioned than Xylo. The bonnet is longer and matches the slope of the windscreen. Since the article mentions AWD, I guess this is targeted at private buyers primarily (with Xylo targeting the taxi segment).

Come on, the oval logo is such a big give away - no way it is a Renault.

I really think this looks very proportional and butch. The only thing I don't like much about the new Innova is its looks ( leaving the price aside ) and this has a very good scope to perform in the huge price void left by the Innova.

But I somehow feel the MPV market is gone now, as people prefer SUVs now. Except Innova, all other MPVs are struggling - Xylo, Aria, Lodgy, Mobilio, Enjoy, Tavera and the Go+ !

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

So is this a Mahindra MPV or a Ssangyong based MPV? When I had taken my Xylo for the service center a few years ago, I had seen a Ssangyong Rodeo or Radius there. Looked very impressive and had 4 rows of seats. Would have easily given the Previa/Hiace a run for its money.
