Currently there is no petrol engine on offer for S-cross

We know that this engine will be offered on both ertiga and ciaz.

S Cross in Indonesia has the Petrol Varinat, the engine is the M series - M15A DOHC VVT

Ertiga uses the developed K series -K15B, DOHC, VVT

S Cross is likely to get the K series engine as the Ertiga.

Is it possible to know how much is the hike compared to outgoing model ? I feel we can expect 15-20K increase in prices when they bring it to India

Here are some details of the MPV (1.5l P)as released in Indonesia.

- The New MPV has ~42% parts of the outgoing model, the remaining ~58% are New parts

- Works out to ~2200 parts, ~900 and the same as the outgoing model while ~1300 are new

- The new generation of Ertiga based on the Heartech platform now weighs ~ 50 kg less than the earlier model.

- Claims that while using many new components, the cost of maintaining a manual variant for five years is no different than the old model. In addition, the cost of usage for five years even dropped nine percent of the old model.

Does anyone know if this engine has been offered with a CVT in any market?
Ertiga in Indonesia seem to be offered with a 4AT and not sure if Maruti will be offering a CVT here. I don't see BR-V selling well and this doesn't look that great

Theres a good chance of using an AMT instead of the 4 Speed AT for India. This is purely my take . Let me explain why - Swift and Dzire have come out with 5 Speed AMT which happen to be smoother than previous versions. This looks to be inline with the 1.5 Petrol and even keeps the costs down.

I own an ertiga zxi for the past 4.5 yrs . The engine smoothness and versatility are its strengths. Being a 7 seater, i get 13.7 km/l with a mix of 70% city and 30% highways. I personally feel this is good . The only sore point is the small boot. Now with the new version that has been taken care of and the interiors do look nice. Auto climate control is planned for India ( based on spy shots) . I hope they add a drivers armrest as well or atleast give it as an accessory.:thumbs up

I doubt any chance of CVT, as the company is unlikely to invest into R&D just to provide an alternative at similar cost. AMT will save cost and will be profitable to the company, but 4 speed AT & CVT command similar premium of 1 lakh rupees. Why would they offer similar costing auto technologies?

So I think as with current 1.4L which is mated to 4 speed AT, this too will continue the same tradition.

The New Ertiga has been spied with a supposedly 6 speed gearbox in its diesel avatar as per this report. One can see the reverse gear marked next to 1.

Not surprising as this was expected based on earlier reports.

Maruti Suzuki to launch cars with 6-speed gearbox this year.

Starting with 50,000 units in the first year the demand is projected to go to 400,000 units per year by 2020
The interior layout (air vents) of the Ertiga seems identical to the Indonesian car, ( dual-tone interiors?)

The driver's armrest is available as a MGA accessory for the current gen Ertiga too. My wife got it installed from the showroom when she purchased her Ertiga AT last year.

I think the 1.4 petrol could be on its way out just like the Fiat 1.25 diesel. I've seen the Ciaz petrol with an auto way too many times on NH-8 between Dharuhera and Gurgaon. And the only thing I can think of is a new 1.5 petrol that largely shares its shell with the 1.5 diesel but made out of aluminum. Or Maruti could be considering the Baleno's CVT for the Ciaz.

For the new Ertiga, it will be a good fit and it'll also help the Ciaz better compete with City (1.5) and Verna (1.6.)

Good to see the middle row armrest and Auto AC, two new additions to Indian Ertiga. The beige overdose continues, though.

Which is going to come first? Ertiga or Ciaz? I wish Ertiga comes first.

From what I hear, CIAZ by August and Ertiga by Diwali

I have been delaying my AT purchase for almost a year now. I guess I might pick a celerio/Tiago and drive current ertiga for another couple of years happily on highways
