Not long there was a report from ET/IBT on the new launches,

Quote:

To sustain the positive momentum, Maruti Suzuki has lined up an array of new products in which two would help them to foray in to new segment.

Maruti Suzuki's next two big launches will be a seven-seater SUV and a hatchback with SUV-ish stance like the Renault Kwid

a new Maruti Suzuki SUV development resurfaced after a report in June that claimed the same. Reports say the SUV under development will be based on the fifth generation C platform and is scheduled to go into production in 2020.

They could also utilize the SCross / Vitara (& Brezza) platform since its already localized. SCross is already a 4.3m long vehicle - so an elongated version could easily take seven seats.

Would be interesting to see which engine will power this vehicle. The 1.3 just won't be enough and it has to be the new 1.5 Diesel atleast.

You can stretch the length but width still remains the same -> 1.68 m for both Brio and Mobilio.

For us to believe that this is Innova-sized (Width 1.83 m), we need actual width dimensions of this new 7 seater. The spy photograph is taken at an angle which makes the Maruti look as wide as the Innova - since camouflaged Maruti is closer to the camera. Example:

I remember Carma2017 was mentioning somewhere that the "bigger" Ertiga might be already on road for Proto testing.

Comparing with the current Ertiga, this might have an extra length of 150-200mm, which will make it a car of length 4420 - 4470mm.

Good for third row passengers, but bad for people buying Ertiga as a spacious 5-seater or as a car that can be occupied in a large hatchback's parking space. And I guess this extension will spoil the balanced side view of current Ertiga.

The current one already clocks an average 5K per month. Let them move the current Ertiga to the new platform with the same length, but have to bring an entirely new "longer" car to fight against Innova, that can be built on the Global C-platform with a length of 4700mm. One-stone-two-birds may be a wrong policy here.

Someone already spotted the Test Mule.
Well I got an insider info this week from a birdie higher up the ladder in Maruti Suzuki, that they are going to launch a new Ertiga in around June/July timeframe with a focus to fill in the shoes of Toyota Innova.
As per the talks I had, it would have a much modern design approach rather than the conventional design followed by Ertiga up till now and loaded with the features.

I for one, don't think this is an MPV, but an SUV. Maruti has talked earlier about SUV larger than Brezza, but has never talked about MPV bigger than Ertiga.

The ground clearance is also substantial, the alloy designs are sporty, the bonnet rake also looks more SUVish, and the grill resembles something that Vitara has carried in the past.

I expect Auto Expo reveal of a brand new vehicle.

Suzuki Indonesia confirms the next gen Suzuki Ertiga(codename:Maruti YHA).It will utilize the HEARTECT platform, which is shared with the new swift siblings. Also, the new 1.5 litre diesel engine developed in-house, will probably replace the old 1.3 litre diesel engine.clap:

Vitara coming to India is a very remote chance, and so is Brezza petrol as far as I'm aware. I wish I'm proven wrong.

The code name is indeed YHA and it'll be a proper 7 seater. The look is not like the Indonesian rendering but somewhat like this although with a smaller air dam. This will be more angular & sharper, not rounded like current one and longer but not so broad like innova. Front will be different.

This second-row door design is clearly a take from the current Ertiga.

But the rear door seems to be completely new. (original image: Motoroids)

This elongated Ertiga will help Maruti to fight against the Mahindra's upcoming (Innova rival, Xylo replacement?) 7 seater. Seems like they are teasing the Mahindras by giving it a teeth-like front grill.:D (Hope it won't get renamed as ErtigO!).

Seeing the front-end design, they are completely doing-way with the Swift-like headlamps, and going for a more matured design like that of Ciaz.

You seem to have a very clear picture of this new car, and an internal to Maruti. Can you please post some clear pics, especially the side profile? stupid:

I am not saying this is Vitara. Vitara is not a 7 seater. This would be a 7 seater SUV based on Vitara. If Brezza is Vitara Mini, this would be Vitara Plus. Vitara currently is 4.175 m in length. Expect this to be around 4.3-4.4 m in length. Maruti will allow Hyundai Creta to rule that segment for only so long. As mentioned in the Powerdrift overview, the S-Cross is a stop gap, while Maruti comes up with a full fledged SUV for that segment.

Check the below pic and compare it with the first pic. The bottom air-dam is of the same shape. As are the mirrors. As is the area below fog lamp assembly.

So will this turn out to be the NEXT Grand Vitara?:)

Big thanks to Chandra Prakash Sinha for sharing these pics from the Delhi-Gurgaon highway.

Man, the rear doors as well as the 3rd-row area look huge! In the 2nd pic, notice the Japanese gentleman sleeping calmly. Does it hint toward the comfort levels rl: rl:?

The wheels look too tiny for that. Also, the rear overhangs are huge.

This looks more like the Ertiga facelift to me. But of course, I may be proved wrong in next few days/months, when more details emerge. :)

I think you are correct. Doesn't seem anywhere like Ertiga. It fits the rendered image of Grand Vitara the best.
