Planning to buy a 1 year 8 months old pre-owned car. If it is available only for original buyer, I will buy it before RC transfer?

If no, I will buy it after RC transfer.
Yes
You can buy it in the original buyer's name & then transfer ownership

Wow! My S-Cross has a months' warranty left and with this I presume it extends by a year.

I'm totally fine paying for it, BTW.

Wow, So the slow down and healthy competition brings out the best for the consumer I guess! Also, 5 years warranty will become the new norm soon.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

I think its perhaps the best time to buy a Maruti car with 1.3 DDiS engine with all the discounts and extended warranties for free.

Having used it for last 9 years before switching to a petrol, I must say I miss the torque this engine offered, add to that, the engine never gave a single problem so its as reliable as a simple petrol engine despite all its complexities.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

This 1248cc DDiS is the national diesel engine for sure. It has the highest number of copies sold in India in the passenger segment under the stables of Maruti, Fiat, GM and Tata.

A practical and no-nonsense engine which could be used in B segment cars and C segment Sedans and it has still a lot of juice left for the bullet proof reliability.

With this added extended warranty, it seems to the attempt to attract the last bunch of fans those who swear by this engine. Infact never heard of anything negative, apart from the initial turbo Lag which most of us learnt to live with.

This engine will always be remembered in passenger car diesel engines chapter!!

Bundle Discount Value ~ 20k

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-warranty.html (Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!)

The 5 Year/1,00,000 km Extended Warranty was already available as a paid optional extra and was known as Extended Warranty "Royal Platinum"

The cost for this ranges from 3k to 25k depending on model.

So basically, it's just equivalent to 20-25k cash discount as they bundle this with new cars.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

It is sad to see that the largest vehicle seller had to be woken up from its slumber by auto industry recession. Excellent service, solid built quality, focus on safety ,availability of customised options, unlimited mileage warranty, are jargons not available in Maruti Suzuki's dictionary till now. Launch of models with only diesel variants and offering feather light cars and passing them as heartect new technology were some of the classic blunders which were only waiting to implode till competitors launched wave after wave of new capable vehicles.
I hope they have learnt their lessons well and would improve their offerings in future.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

Economic slowdown + impending BS6 norms has forced them to do this so that they can get rid of as much stock as possbile.

Is BS6 nationwide or for a select list of cities only?

I wonder why free warranty extension is not done for Baleno 1.3 DDIS. Ertiga 1.3 has been discontinued, not sure about Ciaz.

Also I believe this is only for new cars. Existing owners already had the option to get extended warranty up to 5 years.

I am probably among the handful who might not be happy to hear this news. Because, about year and half back, I bought 5 year / 100,000kms extended warranty by paying close to Rs. 20,000 .

So, basically, Maruti was making fool of customers and minting money in the name of extended warranty. But fate is great leveller, and if not me, atleast some customers can benefit from this offer.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

A freebie is a freebie. But this is one of the most reliable engines and as a customer I would rather get that cash discount rather than an extended warranty which will most likely not be used. Carmakers are doing everything possible not to reduce the selling price. The cost of this to Maruti will be minuscule.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

A welcome move, albeit not really necessary. Are the gearing up for the Nios launch?
However, some points got my goat:
+ Why has this warranty been provided? I can’t see our miserly Maruti doing so. I don’t see how will it benefit them financially. Plus, the engine is pretty reliable, munching at least 2-3 lakh kilometres easily without major maintenance.
+ Will this warranty be available to existing customers? At least at a small premium?
+ Why is it not offered with the Ciaz and Baleno? Different packages for them maybe? It wouldn’t really make any sense to do so, given that their premium sibling S-Cross is covered under this warranty.
+ And finally, why is there no free extended warranty for its 1.5 diesel? It’s inexplicable that the cheaper, less sophisticated engine has this option, while the bigger, more powerful and complex engine does not! Looks like Maruti is not completely confident yet.
Can others pitch in their thoughts?

Re: Maruti-Suzuki introduces 5 years / 100,000 km extended warranty!

Hello Guys
Need a favour. I had requested for cancellation of extended warranty and reimbursement of admissible amount as due for my alto 800 LXI. However, now that more than 20 days have since elapsed, grateful for guidance as to further action

This looks to be bit costlier. I am going to buy 5th year plan for my 2016 Honda City CVT and Honda quotes 9xxx Rs. All inclusive.

I wonder what makes s cross warranty costlier.
