Hyundai's inferiority complex at work! They started it long back by comparing Getz and Swift, then i10 and Swift, to Grand i10 and Swift, to Wagon-R and Santro, to Eon and Alto, to Xcent and DZire... And lost all these battles.

Better to act professionally and show some maturity in the business, Hyundai. You can sell better by projecting your cars' capabilities than demoting other cars. Especially, Swift. And projecting i10 sportier than a Swift? You must be living in fools' paradise.

Hyundai might have lost all of these battles against Maruti-Suzuki but it's absolutely amazing that they fared as well as they did in most of those. Apart from the Getz that wasn't well accepted, every other model was a success and, more importantly, raised the bar for the segment and forced the runaway leader to follow.

That said, Hyundai had a chance to officially correct the i10 prices (I omit the prefix and the suffix Hyundai keeps adding now and then; Remember 'Elite' i20?) and they failed at it. Given the standard discounts on offer month after month on the current model, they could have actually launched this new model with an aggressive price tag and taken the fight right to Maruti-Suzuki's doorsteps. Sadly, that isn't the case!

Hyundai today launched the Grand i10 Nios in India but the company had kick started the bookings of the car earlier this month. The company today announced that it has received 5000 bookings for the car ahead of its launch in the country.

Looks like Hyundai is on a roll. 5000 bookings already.

Hyundai have committed the same mistake of providing rear wash n wipe only in the top end model again. Disappointed.

Also looking at the price checker, there is quite an overlap between nios and grand. Unless variants in grand are dropped, both models will suffer.

Looks like budget hatch is moving to the premium hatch price bracket. Here's Grand i10 price list (2017 vs 2019).

So the fluidics are gone now. Hyundai has brought many cars in one. From the images in the post #146 (see link above), I see the below

We purchased our Grand i10 Asta(O) FOR 6.72 Lakh OTR 3.5 years back, my sister bought her Santro Sprotz AMT for 6.97 Lakh OTR 6 months back and now, the top end Nios will be almost touching 10L OTR here!! Car prices sure have gone crazy, and then they cry that no one's buying.

I bought my i10 Asta Automatic for 5.65 Lakhs on road in 2009. The same spec car (albeit with touchscreen / rear view cam / sensors) though unavailable now, may end up being 9+ lakhs on road !
Really wondering if this is normal under the 10 year inflation ratio, or the price has infact increased !

P.S - Hyundai should offer the Asta AMT a few months down the line. Also, the Sportz AMT is pretty well kitted, like a Sportz+ on top of the regular Sportz MT.

P.P.S - The teal and the blue colors look good !

If we talk only about automatics, my Amaze CVT is looking more and more VFM after recent launches including NIOS, with a proper automatic and paddle shifts (petrol only) and, specifically for petrol, a much better engine than NIOS. Can't think of any reason for someone to buy NIOS Petrol AMT over Jazz/Amaze CVT.

Just received this message from Hyundai:

Quote:

Petrol is available in BS6; however diesel is available in BS4 Grand i10 NIOS starting today. The rationale for not launching Diesel BS6 is non availability of BS6 diesel fuel at the moment. Also would like to highlight India is the first market for Grand i10 NIOS AND today was the GLOBAL Launch.

Decent pricing on the NiOS MT trims but crazy pricing on the automatics. Its definitely reaching cars with CVT pricing especially since most older models are sold at a hefty discount these days.

The Manual trim pricing is Ok given the decent specs and it definitely undercuts the Swift which has a poor body shell for safety. But I just wish Hyundai gives up on its stubborn belief that a rear wiper is a premium feature only worthy of its top trip !

The Sportz trim is pretty well speced but I can't understand the stupid different wheel sizes on offer. The Sportz gets only 165/70 R14 alloys while only the Sportz Dual tone gets the 15 inch 175/60 wheels. All the Sportz should have got the 15 inch wheels why should a customer have to get a dual tone colour just to get 15 inch wheels ?

I liked the Ignis specs in that regard as every trim gets the same tyres just that the top two trims have alloys.

Overall not a bad offering but they really need to fix the automatic variants pricing considering its an AMT ( a very good AMT to be fair but an AMT nonetheless).

Happened to visit a Hyundai Showroom this evening. The NIOS was on display. It looked a class apart from the other hatchbacks that are available in the market.

The interior fit and finish would put many C Segments to shame. The lighter shade of interiors liberate a lot space for the passengers in the rear. Overall am mighty impressed with the car.

This is the replacement for my grand i10 in my stable. Hyundai launches god awful cars like New gen Santro and the uninspiring Venue but when they hit the sweet spot like they have always done with the i10, it is magic. Great looks, good engine - perfect car.

The interior is where hyundai has scored most points, which is leagues ahead of competition. Apparently hyundai has borrowed some design elements from kia picanto. Grand i10 had a little more subtle character.

My god, Hyundai really is scraping the bottom of the barrel here. It's also trying very hard to mislead the audience by using different units.

Of course, there's probably some marketing man who's very proud of himself for this :Frustrati:Frustrati
