Was speaking to a person working at a dealership, and he said that it's the Dicor, to be launched on 21st Jan. The display models are supposed to have reached the dealerships, but not yet on display.

it would be really great if tata could do that... but the present gerbox will not be able to hanlde the equivalant torque produced... they are workning on a new gearbox though, and it will be accompanied by a 90 hp version of this same motor... hope it comes out soon!!!!

Tata Motors launches DICOR powered Indigo, Estate-Business Live-News-The Economic Times

Tata Motors - Media Centre reads

The silent, 32 bit microprocessor based 1.4 litre, 70 PS engine with a high torque of 140 Nm offers the most contemporary diesel engine technology, featuring high pressure multiple injections, use of hydraulic and low friction mechanisms ensuring better combustion and more fuel efficiency.

The 16-valve engine has Dual Overhead Camshafts, which enhance the high end power output of the engine and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), which minimises the turbo lag at lower engine rpms for improved driveability. The DICOR engine powered Indigo sedan and Indigo Marina station-wagon is priced at Rs. 5.85 lakhs and Rs 5.98 lakhs

Hey Guys some news on the Indica Dicor front... well the car was in Mumbai last week..Got a chance to have short spin in it, the engine was housed in the earlier bodyshell (the 2006 model) and was a test mule.
The Tata guys said they looking for a launch by March, but could be later. They were a bit cagey on that.. Well the car felt better in drivability terms as regards the TCIC and also had a better low end response (thanks to the VGT) and also the trying to sort out the rear ride a bit..Trying out Gas filled dampers in relation to the existing Hydraulic one's...I have not driven the Swift DDiS so cant really tell if it will match..but guess Tata will play price card once again..
I guess they will launch it only in the top end range as the NA engine is no more available in DLX guise..Will have to wait and watch
Meanwhile hope i get time for a Swift DDiS test drive...
Since it was a test mule no comments on interiors and refinement..though the engine was silent at high revs as compared to the TCIC..
The DICOR in the Indica i reckon is worth waiting for people considering the TCIC in the next few months
