In this segment the shift is towards the Petrol Variant.

I honestly don't understand what Hyundai's game is. First, it was the Creta to get disfigured. Then the Verna and now the Elantra. I wonder how many units will make it into the saleschart each month

In some models, they get the camera placement right while in some they just don't. Guess it's two different persons designing it .

They have done this in the past. 1st gen Verna was good looking then they launched "Transform" which was horrible (same with Santa Fe). Fluidic design got everything back and now this design language. But have to admit it's not worse like the transform edition.

Looks awful!
I expected Hyundai to make some necessary changes to the global model before launching it in India. The current one is a gorgeous looking car and this one is the complete opposite
The funny thing is that this thing is going to compete with beauties like the Octavia and Civic.

re: 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift spotted in India, now launched @ 15.89 lakh

Well, atleast this facelift gets ISOFIX anchors - my 2017 Elantra VTVT SX(O) AT doesn’t have ISOFIX anchorages and I have to use the seatbelt always to secure my child’s car seat, it really is annoying (ease of use) and doesn’t feel as stable due to the rear facing car-seat being a bit tilted as the bench seat is reclined and not flat! Now apart from this I feel the current Elantra looks better than the upcoming facelift. TPMS is a welcome addition in the upcoming SX (O) and all variants get 6 airbags which must be standard in this segment. I feel they should have made ESC / VSM standard across all variants also.

I hope Hyundai fixes two things in their cars, including Elantra. One is the steering feedback and the AC performance. There is no pleasure in driving Hyundai cars due to lack of proper feedback from the steering and so much dead steering during small steering movements. Also, the AC performance on their cars is sub-par at least in Chennai climate. My Ecosport and Ciaz is out scoring Hyundai cars in this department. I am saying this after driving Xcent, Grandi10, i20, Creta and Elantra.

That is quite surprising as I find the Elantra’s AC performance to be very effective in Chennai, during summers also. It cools the cabin very fast within a few minutes of turning on the AC and I have to turn it up from Lo always. I read a report on overdrive a couple of years back which have ranked the Elantra, Creta & i20 Active ACs to be the most effective in the sedan, SUV/MUV & hatchback bodystyle / segments respectively - I have attached the links here

Anyway, the Elantra facelift will be getting the Hyundai Bluelink suite and will get remote engine start and remote climate control

The misses of this Elantra facelift would be a) Should have taken the initiative and given a full hybrid b) Must have had a DCT Transmission. c) Lack of a diesel engine. This will sink without a trace the way the D segment is going.

re: 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift spotted in India, now launched @ 15.89 lakh

The Elantra was hot on my list while looking for a good fast sedan last year. It had almost everything going for it except for ingress-egress and low headroom. It is quite well built , well equipped and was available for 20.9 Lac. Somehow did not take it up because of rear seat headroom/comfort.

Daym!

Let's hope the Elantra sales have more traction that this thread. I actually had to search for this thread (despite already subscribing to it). Launching today, but no posts since September 28th.

Or let's hope the sales are low so the discounts follow!? (I'm dunno, I'm very confused).

I'm fairly keen on the car, this will probably be one of the last big petrol NA manuals to be released.

re: 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift spotted in India, now launched @ 15.89 lakh

Hyunda iIndia has introduced the Elantra facelift at a starting price of ₹ 15.89 lakh.

Quote:
The Elantra will now be available with a solitary 152hp/192Nm, 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic, both of which have been carried forward from its predecessor. However, the engine has now been upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms.
