Yes, it's placed below driver seat.
That would have contributed to the increased boot space . Next they should remove spare tire under passenger seat, it will free up even more boot space!

I know this has been discussed multiple times but how does Wagonr 1.2 AMT ZXI fair against Ignis 1.2 Zeta AMT. The Wagon R gets touch interface whereas Ignis gets alloy wheels. Cost wise the Ignis should cost same(after discount ) or less than Wagon R.

On the whole - I feel that this car is a keeper. If I were to buy one now, you can be sure that I'll keep it until I run it into the ground. It is a very capable urban commuter and an can be used for occasional highway sprints. It remains to be seen whether my colleague will buy it though, since he's seriously disappointed with the seating height behind the wheel.
Spare tyre with same size is the only good thing about Wagon R for me. If you plan to "strictly" run this car in city, go for it but a clear NO NO even for occasional highway trip. The outer shell did not give a single positive point about any safety; rather I was scared to look at it. I have an old Santro (2013) which used to compete with Wagon R of the time and it still feels solid and tough with everything. Without any safety features (only seat belt) I still have a good amount of confidence about its outer shell. Reiterating my earlier statement of "Wait for the crash test report of Wagon R" if you wish to take it out on highways.

Maruti Suzuki sold 15,661 units of new Wagon R in its first full month after launch and the hatchback posted Year-On-Year growth of 12 per cent. Re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

Just wondering, has no one bought a new Wagon R here? Will there be a TeamBHP review also? If a review is being planned, when will it be out?

Ever since I saw the pics / videos of 2019 Wagon R and its huge boot space (petrol variant), I had a hope that this could become the most practical CNG hatch.
But as soon as I saw this video, the only thing which comes to my mind is
Close to 350 litre of boot space is dangerously close to what Compact Sedans has to offer.
So 2019 WagonR ideally should have accommodated the CNG tank while still leaving enough room for 2 handbags.

But I simply can't understand why Maruti chose this type of setup.
Wasted opportunity, I guess.

How else would they mount the tank? I think even after the tank and tire, there is sufficient space, just that it should have had proper flat cover to put stuff on top of the tank.

The New Wagon R is the latest success from brand Maruti Suzuki.

March sales/dispatches crosses 16k units after 11 months. The Tall Boy is ranked 4th in the list of top 10 cars in March-19 sales.

Re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

Mods when can we expect the official review for new wagon r? I am not able to decide between wagon r and ignis. Wagon r seems vfm proposition and the ignis has higher ground clearance on its side. (I visit far flung himalayas once a year, so higher ground clearance is a needed feature). Is there any structural rigidity difference between the two?? When both the cars are based on same platform, how maruti is giving more features and space for lesser price comparatively. Will there any crash test difference between the two cars?

Re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

Saw the new Wagon R. Its a much improved product.

More Rear Leg Room
More Power
More Boot space
Almost same price. I will buy this over a swift if looks are not an important parameter.

Re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

Drove a friends WagonR 1.2 AMT and was disappointed. The new WagonR suffers from glaring cost cutting measures, the engine is bare without a cover, the seats with the fixed headrests are uncomfortable and the rear seats lack thigh support. The engine is very audible inside and the AMT felt quite jerky, the car is spacious and the large boot is a huge improvement over the outgoing model. I drive a Celerio AMT and felt that the Celerio is a better option as compared to the WagonR.

Had a chance to drive the 1.2 MT new WagonR recently. Must say the car is quite peppy and much quicker than the Tiago or even the new Santro. Although I found the Tiago more stable at high speeds than the other two. Santro engine is a bit gruff and I dont see the car doing well in any other aspect except touchscreen.
