Verna CRDi clocks an outstanding 38.7 kmpl!!!

After Ford's and Hyundai's claim of 31 and 38.7 KMPL Maruti is all ready to give the competition to them. But not through their diesel but with swift petrol claiming 28 KMPL.

But the most shocking news is that they are comparing swift with NHC Exi.

Yea Verna CRDi..I only upgraded rubber to 185/65/14. I have stock rims

Atleast Hyundai compared Santro with SWIFT, Maruti went one step down to compare Swift with NHC Exi. What's the comparison is about?

Regarding the city average I would like to point out that I hardly press accelerator. This sometimes get annoying when I am behind a sow moving vehicle like a rickshaw as I have to frequently press clutch to control the beast to automatically accelerate. Sometimes I feel there’s a ghost in my car that presses pedals! I am new to a diesel engine …may be this is what they do normally. I have seen this on generators..that when they are overloaded they automatically increase rpm and adjust to the load on them…LoL

Everything, Ground clearance, features etc... Except for the size of the car. They even said in terms of power More power = better pickup and more Fuel Efficiency

Plus they are comparing Swift ZXi with NHX EXi. And comparison says climatic control, air bags, ABS and hell other stuff. and at the end they say you save 1.66 lac. DAMN Maruti NHC can fit 2 Swift inside it.

I think there should be a rule or something made for these false claims and stuff. Comparing a Hatch with a Sedan.

Whatever guys....marketing Gimick,,,,, if it can give 38 kmpl in a controllled environ, it still means that the car is capable of delivering 50% 19kmpl on a highway which itself is very respctful considering the kind of power U can play with. Which car ( petrol/diesel) in that segment can do a 100 in less than 10 secs ? Cheers to the Verna. Please ignore the Palio 1.6 here.

Verna does not do 0-100 in 10 its more over like 12 secs if you see practically. And i think Palio also does it in 11.xx secs ?

Correct me if i am wrong.

I think even in controlled condition this FE figures of 38.7 is very good......this gives an indication of what it can deliver in worst case.......its an exercise to quote the high FE figures which actually are obtained by customers themselves....this figure is indeed good....

Does Hyundai make the data from all the 60 cars available? They should give us atleast the minimum mileage attained, average, mean, median, mode and standard deviation.

The maruti folks are smart in saying that the owners averaged 21kmpl in their Swift test. So, there is a 50/50 chance of getting 21kmpl in the Swift.

Mercedes Benz also pulled a similar stunt with journalists when they reintroduced their E320 CDI diesel (200 hp power and 510Nm torque) in the US. By switching off the A/C and coasting close to 18 wheelers a couple of journalists got about 19.8kmpl, although the minimum was about 12.5kmpl.

Guyz... just to tell you.. my Accent CRDi is clocking around 24 kmpl on highways even after 3 years of tough use...

I accept this much mileage is unbelievable but just to tell you examples of other brands doing the same in the past:

Fiesta 31 kmpl (Autocar test)
Optra 22 kmpl ( Customer test drive Delhi - Chandigarh)

Think twice before giving an opinion.

Hmmm. We seem to have a slew of really super FE cars around.
Swift with 28, Fiesta with 31, Verna giving 38, Optra giving 22 and so on and so forth.
What more does the FE-obsessed Indian car-buyer need ?

Maybe the original HeroHonda tagline of "Fill it. Shut it. Forget it" should be used with cars.
