Let me try to put this in order.

1. Assured safety. Not exactly a feature but I'm talking about body shell structure followed by ABS & Airbags.
2. A good air con system, obviously.
3. Preferably an inbuilt music system with Apple CarPlay. I'm not a fan of after market installations when it comes to electronic components.
4. Seat belt warnings for driver and shotgun. Many a times, the chalta hai attitude of a co-passenger is worrisome. The seat belt alarm, albeit annoying, will take care of that.
5. Speed limit warning. Because in a good car, you won't realise the speeds you're doing.
6. Temperature gauge. Has to do with an earlier experience where once, the radiator fan wouldn't kick in on its own and the other time when the coolant tank burst. Both the times, it was the temperature gauge that saved it from catastrophic.
7. Charging point for rear passengers. Don't want cables dangling through the car for someone at the back to charge their phones.
8. Alloy wheels. Weird I know, but there's something which appeals to me. Plus, more reliable than the other material wheel caps which are used.
9. Keyless entry. My parking lot is dark. Putting the key in invariably led to some scratches around the key hole.
10. Immobilizer. As Gandalf said, you shall not pass!

Comfort & Convenience

1. Apple Carplay

3. Auto Dimming IRVM (Either OEM or retrofitted)
4. Dead Pedal (100% Must, i reject a car if it doesn't have this)
5. LED/HID Headlights or Projector's (Should have good throw, not just for show)
6. Reverse parking sensors.
7. Steering mounted controls.

Safety Features:

1. At least 6 airbags
2. ABS + EBD + Traction + ASR
3. At least 4 star crash test
4. DRL's

Nice to have and preferred

1. Knee Airbag
2. Memory Seats
3. Auto Dimming ORVM's
4. Dual zone ACC
5. Tinted glass
6. Wireless charging ( I never use this but, it's often used by my passengers to charge their phones when they haven't brought the charging cables and i won't share mine due to songs being played)
7. TPMS (active is preferred but even passive will do)
8. Paddle Shifters
9. Panoramic Sunroof (only to keep the cover open and have an airy feel)

I currently drive a Renault Duster AWD 2016 model. Must have for my next purchase (SUV):

1. Minimum 6 Airbags - Front + Curtain; All other regular safety features.
2. Captain Seats in the middle row.
3. Automatic Transmission - minimum 6 speed auto.
4. 6/7 Seater.
5. Low Range Transfer Case - For 4x4 Low with Crawl Mode.
6. Minimum 200 mm Ground Clearance.
7. Minimum 400 NM Torque.
8. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
9. Rear AC vents till 3rd row.

Based on my time with the Creta 2020, here are some of the features I see great value in and would love to have in all my subsequent cars:

- EPB and Auto Hold - a boon on inclined traffic signals
- Connected car tech - Although Hyundai's implementation leaves much to be desired, the ability to pre cool/heat the car in Delhi's weather is awesome.
- Ventilated seats - Duh!
- Triptronic function - Especially to move from Eco Mode to Sports Mode with flick of the wrist. Don't use paddle shifters at all now.
- Electronically adjustable seats - Far easier to get that perfect position than manual adjustment.
- Sunroof - Although I never open mine or use the Panoramic part in the rear cabin, a sunroof does make the cabin a lot airier
- Sunglass holders
- Android Auto, especially with Google Assistant through voice command button
- Cruise control, not just on highways but also inter-city travel in NCR
- Privacy screens, not just for privacy but also keeping the temperature down
- Air purifier: NCR effect

Here's what I miss in the Creta. Maybe owners who do have them can reveal if they really do add much value?

- Memory seats
- Telescopic steering adjust
- Lumbar support
- 360 degree camera, blindspot monitoring and front parking sensors
- HUD
- Wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay
- Anti glare and heated ORVMs
- Digital MID, though with Google Map navigations displayed which almost no car seems to have.

Having bought a Vento just 1.5 years back, I regret not having the following features -

• Electronic parking brake
• Digital instrument cluster
• ventilated seats
• 6 airbags
• rear disc brakes (5* safety rating)
• TPMS
• wireless android auto

Apart from the above, I have the following features in Vento HL plus which also are a must have in my next car -

• full LED headlights with DRL
• auto dimming IVRMs
• rear AC vents
• adjustable front arm rest
• rear camera
• tilt and telescoping steering wheel
• backlit switches for mirror, windows etc
• ESP
• cooled and lighted glove box

Some of the nice-to-have's -

• rear window sun blinds
• integrated LED turn lights/blinkers
• front parking sensors/360 camera
• reverse camera with dynamic guidelines
