This is the interior of the new upcoming Jazz, and NOT the city. City spyhots doesn't have an A-pillar with a quarter-glass!

I find the render on the first page much better looking than this one (maybe with slightly wider headlamps and different door handles). This looks just too weird imho.

Thailand will be the first to get the New Honda City, which is speculated to be in November-19.

All other markets will receive it in 2020, while in India it is expected in Q1 2020.

Power-trains:
Quote:
In terms of power, this B-Segment sedan is expected to be introduced into the Sport Hybrid i-MMD hybrid electric system, which is made up of a 1.5L i-VTEC engine with dual electric motors. There is also a 1.5L i-VTEC natural intake engine. .
Quote:
As for the rumored 1.0L VTEC Turbo three-cylinder engine, it is not on the list, but it does not rule out the future as a source of power for sports models.

Honda is seriously losing the plot. They need to get the HRV. This segment (sedan) is dying whereas the SUV segment is only increasing.

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

In my humble Opinion, Honda has just one product in India. The CITY. Nothing else is creating any vibrations in the market. There are other companies like honda too (TOYOTA for example).

It is very dangerous for any company to put all it's eggs in one basket. Any company that is doing well in the Indian market has a large base of sub 4 m cars . I do not understand why honda does not bring in a product to rival the wagon R, Tiago, Kwid .

Is it because of the perception that it will lower the "premium ness" of their brand?

My expectations on the new City: 1) 1.5 Turbo-petrol with full hybrid 2) Keep the footprint as it is or marginally big. 3) Slightly bigger fuel tank: at least 50L (40L is too small) some hatchbacks have bigger (Grand i10 has a 43L tank) 4) Bigger shoes 195 or 205 section at least 5) All round discs. 6) Slightly supple ride.

They've tried and failed miserably with the Brio.

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Neither Honda nor Toyota want to face global scrutiny for producing 0 star entry level cars. They probably deem it more damaging to their brand value.
That is why neither manufacturers want to go below the Brio/Etios segment where they have to compromise on structural integrity of car to meet unrealistically low price points. I think Toyota had made a statement not to long ago in an interview that they are not willing to compete below the Etios segments.

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

The rear end looks like the current generation Honda Insight (sold in the US market), the sides look like the Amaze and the front end looks like the current gen City. Can’t wait to see the car sans camo.

Quote:
That's because Honda decided to maintain the size of the car in the B-Segment as usual, but changed the power to a 3-liter 1.0-liter Downsizing 3-cylinder VTEC Turbo to replace it in the ECO-Car Phase 2,

Entering the ECO CAR Phase 2 project, which is more stringent on CO2 emission, and requires the installation of more basic safety systems such as

CO2 emissions not more than 100g./km.
EURO 5 Emission Standard
Make fuel consumption not less than 23.25 km / l
Installed with ABS, EBD, BA as standard for all sub-models
Equipped with VSA balance control systems as standard for all sub-models

3-cylinder petrol 1.0 liter VTEC Turbo

Quote:
The new 3-cylinder petrol DOHC 12-valve 998 cc. Cylinder x stroke 73.0 x 78.7 mm. Compression ratio 10.0: 1 with variable valve systems for both VTEC and Dual VTC. Borg Warner's single scroll Turbocharger with a maximum power of about 120 horsepower (PS ) At 5,500 rev / min, maximum torque of 200 newton-meters (20.38 kg-m.) At 2,000 - 4,500 rev / min. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT automatic transmission is derived from the Chinese version of Civic 1.0 Turbo, but Will be updated to be able to fill Gasohol E85 water as it comes out later.
1.5 liter petrol, Hybrid i-MMD (New Generation) ( under development, data not published)

Quote:
1.5 L 4-cylinder petrol engine, DOHC 16-valve 1,498 cc, original PGM-FI injector, but improved the new Hybrid system by adding electric motors to a total of 2
DESIGN:
Quote:
As for the appearance, the new City will have beautiful lines that are asymmetrical. Honda has created the most out of the city. The exterior is based on the Honda Insight. Slender headlights and taillights, grille in the form of Solid Wing. Quite similar to the latest BMW 3-Series G20. Interior design Do not expect much

re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

For a change, glad that we may not be getting the 1.0 turbo!

A 3-cylinder engine somehow just feels so wrong in the City, which built its entire reputation on the strength of smooth iVTec motors.

For the Indian Market:

Quote:
Engine option on the new City will be a 1.5-litre petrol coupled with Honda's new compact i-MMD mild-hybrid tech that will make its debut in the new Jazz later this month. Power and torque figures for this motor are not yet known. Honda will offer this engine with a CVT gearbox and a six-speed manual is also a possibility.

Another engine option for the Honda City will be the 1.5-litre diesel powerplant that is available on the current-gen City and other Honda models in India. This engine delivers 100hp and 200Nm in its BS4 state however the next-gen Honda City will come with a BS6 compliant version of this engine. Honda will offer a six-speed manual gearbox as well as, for the first time, a CVT transmission as well on the City diesel
