It is better not to take opportunity and depreciation cost. If those are considered on a monthly basis then it would be wise to not purchase a car altogether.

Looks like I am the only one in the more than Rs. 35K bracket as of now. And that too for just ONE car.

Car : Verna Petrol AT
Fuel : 12K per month on petrol
EMI : 22K per month (Ouch)
Parking : 1K per month

That itself is 35K!

Now add the misc. insurance, servicing, cleaning, etc and that takes me well above 35K per month.

Silver lining is that the EMI will be over in about 9 months (or possibly even earlier)

I was spending almost Rs. 12K lesser on my earlier car, Indigo Manza QJD.

I own a 2013 Fluidic Verna Diesel, fully paid for now.

I drive around 20K an year, 70-30 highway to city mix which gives me a mileage of about 18 km/l. Taking a diesel rate of about Rs70/l roughly works out to Rs 6000/ month

A general service works out to about 10K including wheel alignment/ balancing. I do this twice a year so about 1.7k a month.

Tolls generally work out on average to Rs 1200/ month. ( roughly 1.5 Blr-Chennai-Blr trips a month)

Washing is Rs 550/ month ( 350/month for the apartment guy and a detailed wash for Rs 800 3 times a year)

Other consumables like glass cleaner, all purpose cleaner, cloths, wiper blades etc work out to about 2.5K/ year so roughly 200/ month

Insurance + PUC is 20K so 1.6K/ month

So overall roughly ~12K a month is the expenditure on a single car. I voted wrongly for 5-10k/ month by calculating only fuel and service.

Service - Approx 1,000 per month.
Insurance - Approx 2,200 per month.
Fuel - Varied, really, but if the SUV is out, it is approximately Rs. 1,000 per day and if I am touring, it is somewhere near Rs. 2,500 per day.
Parking - 0.
Washing / detailing - ~2,000 per month.
Toll - depends if I go to tolled roads.
Alignment / balancing - Rs. 200 per month. [approx twice a year].

Service - First oil change costed some 1,3xx, in the next service, it may increase to max ~Rs. 4,000 [including lube + filter change], so that would be Rs. 300 [max] a month.
Insurance - ~300+ per month.
Fuel - Approx Rs. 100 per day.
Parking - 0.
Washing / detailing - ~2,000 per month.
Toll - almost zero as it stays within city and the tolls inside municipal area are exempted for cars bearing BR-11 registration.
EMI - Rs. 8,114 per month.

As this stays within city, I have to shell out another 5K [per year] for minor touch - up jobs.

I pay my driver 12,000 per month and he takes care of both cars, apart from driving the Swift mainly [getting it washed, to the garage etc].

Considering I have two vehicles, a VW Vento and a Triumph Tiger 800, I incur the following expenses on a monthly basis:

EMI = 23000
Fuel Expenses = 6000
Service & General Maintenance = 4000
Insurance = 3000
Washing = 2000

Oh Boy!! This is going to hurt. I have 2 vehicles and I will split the bills.

2011, Vento 1.6D, 97K KMs done.
For the first 2-3 Years
1. Fuel costs - Rs. 4000.
2. Insurance - Rs. 1500. (I had transferred the 50% NCB of my older car)
3. Tolls roughly is Rs. 500 per month
5. Washing Easily 3-4K a month. I was killing it. On an average 1 trip to 3M for their UV package. Extra paying to the daily cleaning guy. Doing it myself and hence buying expensive polishes. Plus atleast 1 more trip to a Non 3M cleaning center. I knew I was spending a hatchbacks EMI worth of money on just keeping the car shiny.
6. Service - Rs. 1000
7. EMI - Rs. 8200

Today, things have rationalized a bit. The car runs lesser number of KMs, I have a covered parking and the loan is paid.

2. Insurance - Rs. 1500.
3. Tolls roughly is Rs. 500 per month
5. Cleaning - 1500
6. Service - 10000 (I have nearly spent 1.5 lakhs in the last 1-1.5 years on the car of replacing wear and tear items (Clutch, Flywheel, Battery, Tyres, Brake Disc, Rotors), Issues like AC going Kaput. Maintenance items like Engine Mounts change etc.

2015 CBR650F, 26K KMs
1. Fuel costs - Rs. 2000-2500.
2. Insurance - Rs. 1500.
3. Tolls roughly is Rs. 100 per month
5. Cleaning - 600
6. Service - Ideally about 1000 a month. However 24K KMs is a major milestone in a super bikes life. Hence I had to spend about 30K on my last service. Otherwise average is about 12-13K in a year.

This is interesting. I keep usually think annually factoring in depreciation as well. However, here is how I look at monthly out of pocket for my cars.

2016 BMW 520D:
Fuel - 7000
Insurance - 6000
Service - 3000
Washing and upkeep - 1200

2018 Hyundai Verna SX(o) AT Petrol:
Fuel - 6000
Insurance -2000
Service - 400
Washing and upkeep - 1200

Both my cars have no loans and are relatively new. So I do not expect to incur any major expense in the next 6 months. But if I have to change tyres and get a brake pad change done for my BMW, that would cost me about 125K. Assuming that this would be incurred within the next year's time, that needs an accrual of about 10K per month.

Overall, my expense per month would be about 37K for the next year.
