re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

I hated this gen Creta exterior when I first saw it in pictures, now the design has grown in me, and don't mind accepting, I really love the looks. Who would have thought it will sell like hotcakes, one should give it to Hyundai for understanding the pulse of the customer. Now coming back to Alcazar, looks pretty decent and well proportionate too. If Hyundai is able to sell unorthodoxly styled Creta loads and loads, I don't see any reason for this decently styled car to not hit the success mark.

2.0L diesel would have been more exciting, looks like era of fast diesel is coming to an end.

Maybe it's me 🙄 but this reminds me of Honda Mobilio. It looks stretched but as we have seen creta selling like hot cake, this will too.

Thanks for the inputs on petrol powerplants!

Any scope of further ‘scooping’ regarding the oil burner options?

Given that the all-new Tucson 2021 is not listed to be assembled in India and that the present face-lift Tucson is a CKD, it would appear that at some point the Tucson will be discontinued in India when those CKD kits run out.

In which case, are there any chances of the Alcazar taking over the flagship mantle with the R 2.0 litre CRDi Diesel(D4HA) engine of the Tucson?

The car looks okayish(I hate those alloys)
It seems like a good upgrade for last gen creta owners.
If Hyundai can price it right then they have another winner on their hands.
If this car takes off , I think that'll give hyundai more confidence to bring In the more premium Hyundai products like Palaside . I really hope that happens.
We really really need the Telluride and Palaside in our market.

Just that design language, hate the new creta, not sure if I will like the front end of this too. That said I echo the same sentiments of rest of the members, this is going to be a huge hit,no second thoughts about it.
I have no doubt in my mind that the Alcazar with the 2.0 L petrol engine will be priced closer to the Tucson than the Creta. Probably mid-way. No way the Alcazar will be just 2 lakh more expensive than Creta. It will be 4-5 lakhs.

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

Are the Tucson's 2.0L Petrol and Diesel engines manufactured locally or brought-in via the CKD route?

If they are produced locally, then Hyundai could achieve economies of scale by using them for the Alcazar. With the Creta's top-end at 21L (OTR) and Tuscon starting around 27L, that's a nice gap for Hyundai to explore.

That refined 2.0L Diesel with 180 bhp and 400 Nm will be a great option for the Alcazar.

Between the Creta/Alcazar twins, it would be a 1.5 NA, 1.4 Turbo-petrol, 2.0 Petrol and a fast 2.0 Diesel with a manual, Torque Convertor, CVT and DCT for transmission choices and two body styles to choose from - that would be a tremendous number of options for someone shopping in that price bracket.

Well it's just not the engine, it will also be that new Tucson will be better Kitted, longer and wider then Alcazar. Let's see how the price battle plays out, but since I am in absolutely no rush, I will wait and see.

I usually like to go with this concept of buying a car or getting a job "Go for it when you don't need one", it just helps you to stay relaxed and generally get the best"

I could be wrong (my focus must have been on diesel specs) but I think I read very recent reports from leading auto mags that the engines will be exactly the same as Creta so not sure where this is coming from. Any source please? Very happy of course if it does get some higher spec engines so fingers crossed what you are saying is indeed true.

I assume this 2.0 must be a torque converter automatic and not DCT and therefore a hint more fuel efficient hopefully?

re: 7-seater Hyundai Alcazar launching in June 2021. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 16.30 lakhs

2.0 ltr petrol automatic with increased kerb weight would be a gas guzzler for sure. If Hyundai's gonna pit it against harrier and Hector's top models. They need a better diesel engine to compete against fiat 2.0 ltr diesel.

Tuscon's 2.0 ltr diesel albeit in a lower state of tune around 150 ps and 350 nm of torque with a 8 speed automatic would set the cat among the pigeons. Lower kerb weight compared to Hector and Harrier would not only result in better performance but better fuel efficiency.
