Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

Mod Note: Our Volkswagen Virtus Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

While it is known that the group is working on the next gen Vento for India, we now see the Virtus in India.

Just like previous spotting of the Skoda Kamiq, the Virtus seen here is to be viewed as the vehicle that will have the DNA for the next gen replacements of the Skoda Rapid and VW Vento, and being tested for component localization and development.

It will have all combinations of powertrains, but expect only the 1.0TSI in the upcoming sedans( mass market) from the group.

Quote:
the next-generation Volkswagen Vento will continue using the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine introduced with the BS6 version that develops 110PS and 175Nm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor. The Vento successor though could see a number of features from the Virtus including climate control, LED lighting with DRLs, keyless entry, push-button start-stop, and more. VW is likely to bring connected technology, the norm for future cars.
Expect the Sedans to have new monikers replacing the 'Vento and Rapid'.

The next gen Vento will debut earlier than its Skoda sibling and will debut in the festive season of 2021.

Quote:
Volkswagen India will replace the current Vento with a new car based on the MQB Ao IN architecture. This test mule could be testing components that will eventually go into the India-spec car, including how they react to Indian fuel and geography
Quote:
The Virtus is a good preview into what we can expect from the new VW sedan coming in late-2021/early 2022

Re: Virtus, the 2018 VW Polo sedan (Vento replacement). EDIT: Now unveiled

I don't know if this is the appropriate thread to post this. I saw this article earlier today on Overdrive's page. The Brazilian Virtus has begun road tests in India.

re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

While the market has lost interest in Sedans, little choice is left to pick up the City (only engine withstanding) and Verna (feature laden with scary QC issues off-late) .. whilst the current Vento, Rapid have become so ancient now, looking at the baby Jetta design gives me a feel of fresh air.

Hopefully they pick up their after sales experience as time goes by and more people help the sedans stay relevant in the market.

I like the side profile of the Virtus more than that of the Vento - no longer looks like a boot haphazardly slapped onto a Polo.

If we can expect this to replace vento and debut by 2021, will there be any chance of new generation polo to be launched any time before vento. Replacing vento before polo?? , sedan segment which is reducing in sales numbers!!!

I just hope they change the name. Virtus is too close to being a Vir us.

But then again, it's the VAG group so maybe they aren't worried about weird names.

Very less chance for a new Polo anytime soon, major reason being the current gen Polo in global market is larger than 4M in length and in order to get small car Tax benefit it need to sub 4 M in India, also it becomes a difficult task for VW to place it in right price-size bracket

Though they already developed highly localized MQB A0 IN platform for India which will underpin the upcoming VW, Skoda C-SUV 's and VW Vento. I doubt if they will be able to cut short the length and place it as a compact car yet, rather than what It seems like is launching Vento first and later on launching Polo as Hatchback version of Vento. As much as I know the new gen Vento will be a touch above the outgoing one in quality, fit and finish. Hopefully they will price it right.

Can predict the names of their variants though.

World Cup Edition
All-Star
Red & White
Black & Blue
Go- Corona
Kabaddi Edition

Ok, on a serious note I am looking forward to Virtus. Especially their dashboard design and the instrument cluster. They should emulate the one sold internationally.

Was driving back home enjoying the sunrise when I spotted what seemed like a Mini Jetta on the highway, near Bavdhan on the Pune-Mumbai route! It was the Left-Hand Drive Virtus and and I drove up to it and even gave the driver a . The Co-Driver was asleep though Here's a small glimpse.

1) Could you see the interior?
2) How much more/less stable was it compared to your Polo/ Vento?
3) How much bigger is the vehicle compared to the current Vento?

VW's Virtus again!!

- Unveil expected in late 2021

- 2021 will be the year of the Taigun and early 2022 will see the launch of this sedan

- Will be premium and likely will it fill in the Jetta segment in terms of pricing?

- Powertrain options will be in MT/AT with the 1.0L TSI engine

- Its sibling from Skoda will arrive later in 2022(mid)

Looks good and very similar to the Jetta on the rear.
Is it just me or does the Virtus looks a bit raised with ample ground clearance.

If only VW relaunch diesels in India.

This is such a handsome car! VW still makes some of the best looking cars - exception being the Ameo. Glad they ditched the sub-4m sedan segment.

If this is priced like a Jetta, is it truly a vento replacement?
