re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

Is there any live broadcast link ? The one on the website requires to fill a complete long form even with mobile number authenticated by OTP. Not that good move though when we aren't sure if they'll unveil it fully or partly (sans interiors) like some recent launches.

Edit: Adding the link for the live broadcast video

Variant Lineup

Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled-screenshot-20220308-115054.png

  • LED Headlamps standard
  • 8 speakers standard
  • Claims to be biggest car in segment
  • Up to 6 airbags
  • Bookings begin today itself

VW must price this really aggressively. I'm seeing parts on front and rear and interiors shared with Nivus/Taigo, T-Roc, Global Polo/Virtus, and even Indian Taigun, Alloys lifted straight from one edition of Indian Polo. Smartly done though. Not able to digest the looks beyond 80-90% due to evident cost cutting (the seat fabrics look cheap at least in pictures on such an expensive car), but it will grow on me I'm sure.

Can't decide if I like or hate the design. In a way its trying to sporty and classy at the same time without taking either direction in a proper manner. I do think that VW is losing the timeless designs of the Vento/Polo with these new ones. The best part about the Vento was that the design doesnt even feel relatively old after 10+ years of launching.

Cost Cutting seems evident in this New Virtus too

Alloy Wheels are straight lift from Volkswagen Polo Comfortline.

That Blue shade though is nice.

For me, this car looks too much like a Golf and the rear is also nothing special. In comparison, the Slavia has a much better design both at the front and back. If only Skoda offered a blacked out roof which is offered on the Virtus. And the missing Sub-woofer is also another downside.

I hope the extra 20mm goes in to increasing the cabin space and curcuma yellow should be interesting !

Yes I am also excited to see how curcuma yellow would look on a sedan, hoping it would be similar to VW Arteon .

Hydraulic brake boosters? I recall the Slavia has electric brake assist, so is this another difference from Slavia?

The Slavia vs Rapid looks like a revolutionary upgrade where as the Vento vs Virtus look evolutionary.
VW always manages to add some datedness to all it's fresh models, they need to shake up their conservative designs.

Again... Dear VW/Skoda a launch without pricing is not really a launch, you just gave us a visual brochure.

re: Volkswagen Virtus, now unveiled

Comprehensively I like the Virtus' design over the Slavia's.

Though there are design flaws in the VW as well (Usage of chrome in the GT Trim, Rim design is below average, Tail lights could have been sharper at the rear quarter panel end etc.) but overall the GT treatment works.

The GT is not really to my taste, but how good does the 1.0 look. Love the design now, and the way they've integrated it. To my eyes, it looks better than the Slavia as well. Kudos VW
