Good point @PPS. During my last registration, the agent had told me to reach out to him in case I needed another such registration for the next car. I didn't think much about rules etc. at that time since my plan was firm but timeline wasn't.

Yes you are right. Made an attempt in March to pay tax for 26-28 and went till payment page. Took agent's help in clearing it. While on phone the agent himself logged in somewhere and cleared it ! Wonder what kind of access RTO agents have !!

Many of my colleagues paid tax for next 2 years but they have not faced any issues. In your case the pending application date is 13th March 2024.

Better you check application or payment status from vahan portal.

As with any other govt subsidy, it would be limited. I remember posts/news articles in this thread which clearly state that only one vehicle in a category can be registered as BH. Bike and car are different category hence one of each is allowed. The only reason BH series is having these restrictions is to help central govt in convincing states.

I get your point and I too wish govt can implement one nation one tax policy. However, neither the guidelines nor the intent of state govts looks to be aligned to help its citizens. BH tax (in installment over the years) is going to impact state revenue vs upfront life time tax. Govt is only concerned about short term and hence the knee jerk reaction to discourage BH registration even if it means inconvenience to general public.Every other day, we hear news of some twisted rule related to eligibility. I won't be surprised if they restrict BH to only single car per person to curtail losses.

Another thing to note is that we have not yet started seeing resale of BH cars and name transfer. But from the looks of it, that is going to be another battle for BH owners down the line even if they cross the first hurdle of buying new BH car.

I have 3 BH registered cars from the same RTO and address. There is no such restrictions as long as you are eligible.

If I get transferred, which I actually have in reality, was I expected to leave the other 2 cars or go through the same ordeal of reregistration and refund which btw was refused for my 4th car. The RTO said there is no provision for refund. I can fight it, but that would require me to fly down, stay in a hotel for few days and waste my time and money.

So the news articles were right about Bihar districts to implement it. There is still no notification about this from MORTH. So most likely it is illegal. If you can you should challenge it in court. Recently the additional guidelines imposed by MH RTO was challenged and quashed by the high court there
