I'll definitely go for modifying Lancer. Good and scintillating car that has always been a part of my dreams since childhood. Infact, I have many cars in my dreams but don’t know whether i'll ever be able to buy any one of them :(

Old Priemer Padmini

I would buy an old priemer padmini for less than Rs 10,000 modifications, both body work and engine upgrade.

Tata Sierra : I loved that car or SUV when it came out, if only
I had money to buy it then. It's look was exclusive. would love to buy
old one and mod the interior to bring it upto today's style.

Which is the Best Car for Performance Tuning?

Which is the best car that allows itself to be tuned for higher performance - basically make it meaner / faster etc.

My take is,

Category 1 - Below 6 Lacs
Dont know...

Category 2 - Above 6 Lacs
Mitsubishi Lancer

Reasons - The Lancer is primarily overdesigned coz it was designed keeping in mind rally / race application (lancer is race pedigree as compared to others like honda civic / city / etc.) - hence the base car has enough in it to allow the tuner to wreak out those extra chunks. Handles those extra horses with ease. Infact I have heard that some guys put a 500 HP forced aspirated engine - and dont do much on the chassis - just spruce up the suspenson and add a roll cage...

What car do you think is best for performance tuning in India... Your thoughts please...

Mostly the Japs when it comes to petrols and the Euros for diesels. Easy cars to modify (in terms of what they allow, effectiveness and after-market support):

Old Zen
Old Esteem
Suzuki Swift
OHC / Baleno / Lancer
Ford Fiesta 1.6S
Mitsubishi Cedia
Honda Civic
Skoda Octavia vRS
Skoda Laura

Worst cars to modify : Chevrolets, Mahindras & Tatas.

Awesome part support for high-end Euros like the Mercs, BMWs & Audis. But the pricing is killer.

A souped up Maruti Gypsy has always been on my wish list.

Open top gently costing en route to Goa or a nice gentle ride in the evenings on the beach...Gypsy certainly makes picture. But with standard fitments, it can also be one of the rib-breaking ride so modification is a necessity more than luxury here.

Hi All
You guys wont believe last December I bought a 97 model Lancer petrol version & my whole intention is Mod. Body has some scratches and repaints but let me tell you all that engine still runs superbly. I believe you don't have to check on Mitsubishi engine for miles and miles. Right now I am enjoying it without any single Mod, I have started planning for Mod. Indian market has old City and Lancer which can be modified beyond limits and guess most popular are discussed in this post too.

Other than these certainly any Japanese vehicle can used for Mod. Very supportive vehicles for Mod. 240SX, 350ZZ, Skyline and list goes on....
