Nice. Any word if coming in the global 5-seater or a custom-for-India 7-seater avatar ?

The new Tucson will now get a Turbo petrol 2.0 litre engine ? That would be quite the deal !

Autocar says this is going to be a 5 seater, whereas all along they said it would be a 7 seater. :-)

Ah apologies. I missed that link at the bottom altogether. Was just reading the quote boxes. Thanks for clarifying.

On a separate note, seems too well timed that they’ve announced this exactly one day after the Meridian hit the showrooms. Wonder whether they want to drum up interest and tempt potential Meridian customers to put their Jeep plans on hold by announcing that the radically different all new Tucson is also just around the corner.

The Hyundai website now has a dedicated page for the Tucson. There’s a teaser video too on YouTube.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Phew!! Finally, some news about the new Tucson.

And, it's now featured on the Hyundai website too, though with very few additional details. The old Tucson has disappeared from the website, incidentally. Understandable, of course.

I saw one report from HT Auto that said the power plants are petrol and hybrid (which would be terrific), but I think this is just speculation. Other are speculating both petrol and diesel, but key for me is which version comes with AWD. If, as in the outgoing Tucson, AWD is offered only with the diesel, its going to be a blow to the folks in NCR. Hopefully, some clarification soon.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Just wanted to share, a few days ago I visited the Hyundai Showroom nearby and when I asked for a Tucson test-drive the sales person told me that he can give me the test-drive but there is no more stock coming from the factory.
Upon asking for more info he mentioned the price increase can be as much as 2L, which I seriously doubt a fully loaded next-gen Tucson would be as little as ~35L.. but yes current gen Tucson is now out of production.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

This generation of Tuscon is most probably gonna come with the 2.0 Diesel (186hp and 417nm) but what about the Petrol option(s)?

I would personally love to see Hyundai bring in the 1.6 Petrol Hybrid, it's the middle child in terms of the Hybrid engine options for this generation of Tuscon, it makes 227hp and 350nm. Not as powerful as the plug in hybrid (261hp and 350nm) but much better than the 1.6 48V mild hybrid (150hp and 250nm). They could also (hopefully) bring in the 1.6 Turbo engine (178hp and 265nm) from the KIA Sportage as the base model instead of the 2.0 Petrol we got last time.

My engine wish list for the 4th Gen "NX4" Hyundai Tuscon:
  • 1.6 Turbo Petrol Base Model (178hp and 265nm)
  • 2.0 Turbo Diesel (186hp and 417nm)
  • 1.6 Turbo Petrol Hybrid Top Model (227hp and 350nm)

As visible in the track record of Koreans, they are quick to take such action in order to retain and increase market share. Seems as if they were waiting for Meridian price announcement to fix up prices for Tucson (hopefully will be in compass mid to top variant pricing)

Now hopefully, MG will also rush to announce Hector facelift sooner than later. Even though it doesn't compete in pricing, but with savvy variant price gap may narrow down and there will be fear of potential customers jumping to next segment.

All in all good news for potential SUV buyers in market today as in a month or so latest tech laden options will be available.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

I have a question. Will Hyundai utilize the immense popularity and market value of the KIA brand to launch the KIA Sportage in India? (Assuming that this generation of Tuscon does well).

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Rumour: 4th-gen Hyundai Tucson could be launched by July 2022

The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson has been testing in India for quite some time. While we still don't have an official launch date, rumours suggest that the SUV might go on sale by July 2022.

Reports also suggest that the Tucson could be offered with a 7-seat configuration this time around. The styling of the new model is based on Hyundai's Parametric dynamics philosophy, featuring half-mirror type daytime running lights integrated into the grille. The rear of the car features a full-width LED light bar with triangular tail lamp clusters.

Inside, the new Tucson gets dual 10.25-inch touchscreens and a digital instrument cluster. The SUV is also expected to come with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The SUV is likely to be offered with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Higher variants are expected to get all-wheel drive as well.

On the tyres- I would've really loved the 19-inchers that are available elsewhere, but 18-inchers might be the right choice for Indian road conditions. Also, looks like they are supplying MRFs on the new Tucson, and on closer inspection these seem like MRF Wanders (265/60R18). Slightly disappointed.
