Maruti & Toyota's Creta-rivaling midsize SUV revealed - Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Mod Note: Our Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

Upcoming Maruti - Toyota SUV spied testing for first time.

Quote:
front of both the versions, the bumpers and grille are a lot different. Does this mean both the Maruti iteration and Toyota's version were on test together?

Maruti & Toyota's Creta-rivaling midsize SUV spied

Maruti Suzuki ( YFG )and Toyota (D22) Mid- SUV begin road tests.

Currently the segment being dominated by Hyundai/Kia with its Creta and Seltos, this SUV from the Japanese duo will challenge them with features and variants not seen before from Maruti.

Speculated to be called the Vitara ( Maruti's version) and Toyota Corolla Cross, the SUV's will be launched during this festive season!

Parts will be sourced by Maruti Suzuki while the assembly will be at TKM. Monthly volumes targeted by each manufacturer is ~ 9k units.

Both will be built by Toyota at their plant in Bidadi- Karnataka and the SUV's will have Toyota's Strong Hybrid Variant.

Notice the front of both the versions, the bumpers and grille are a lot different. Means both the Maruti iteration and Toyota's version are being tested in tandem., and launch would be simultaneous in Sept-Oct-22.

re: Maruti & Toyota's Creta-rivaling midsize SUV spied

I thought both models will have significantly different top hats based on the recent reports, but it looks almost similar - except for the grill and bumper.

Maruti version with "S" logo and signature grill from Baleno:

Toyota version with a different grill design:

Gives a vibe of the current international Vitara, and all chances of getting the facelifted "Vitara" tag.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki's Creta-rivalling SUV coming in 2020

Headlamps and DRL positioning on the second one looks similar to Harrier/Hector. Also, by the design of air intake and alloy wheels, I think the first one is the Maruti Version.

Hope this time Toyota gets its styling right.

The queasy frog-face slapped on to the otherwise competent Yaris brought about its untimely death.

Yep, the Toyota's test mule has got the bZ lineups sharp exterior alright, this might be the craziest looking SUV in the Indian roads in the future

Yes, these are being tested in Gurgaon. I saw two of these at a roundabout in Palam-Vihar on Thursday. One can hardly make out anything given the black coverings, but these indeed looked larger than anything else from Maruti.

It could be the 10.5" infotainment system adopted from Corolla Cross!

It is speculated the Vitara will have design cues from the Across:

Corolla Cross or Corolla Quest? I believe they had registered the Corolla Quest trademark earlier. It’s now confirmed that Toyota’s Ertiga will be called the Rumion, so it only makes sense that the midsize SUV be the Corolla Quest. It would be a smart move to capitalise on the Corolla brand, like they’re doing with the Cross internationally.

It was unlikely they’d launch the SA-spec Corolla Quest anyway (i.e., base model old Corolla sedan) because the Corolla was selling a (admittedly best-in-segment) few hundred units a month before it was discontinued.

Felt the same.

Especially after seeing the ORVM shape and placement. More Suzuki than new gen Toyotas. But then, could be because it rumoured to be essentially a stretched Raize.

Anyways, good to see test mules running. Felt weird that a new car was not seen testing even an year before launch.

The SUV's on video: Shows its Road presence !

Maruti’s version of the SUV gets a split lights setup up front with LED DRLs above and main headlamp clusters below. This is similar to Suzuki’s mid-size crossover Across.

Looks almost production ready. Even the rear lights are fully functional.

Small observation. The rear indicators seem to be mounted on the bumpers.

As per ACI it’s launch is due in year 2023. Not sure if they meant Financial Year or Calendar Year. Going by track record of past testing. I believe it’s latter.
