Considering Maruti will consider anything below a few thousand unit sale as successful, I highly doubt they'll launch Swift sports

To me it looked quite awesome infact , as someone who had a generation 1 swift i am quite excited for this change .

I would love it if it looks this good but cars in Japan especially from Suzuki are getting generally incremental updates in Styling only. This may not materialize.

SWIFT carries a good fan following. I only hope they increase the strength of the car. I won’t ask about the engine though, because, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the same 1.5L NA smart hybrid which it’ll get! I’m sure a turbo-petrol from Maruti is highly unlikely and won’t score a mark from enthusiasts.

The powertrains of the new Swift, which are attracting attention, are expected to be the improved K12C 1.2L and inline 4 gasoline models, and the K12C type 1.2L and in-line 4 gasoline + 48V mild hybrid versions. It is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2023.

Swift Sport: Scheduled for a Q3 launch in 2023.

The biggest point of the new Swift Sport is that the pure gasoline model will be discontinued and replaced with a 1.4-liter, in-line 4-cylinder gasoline turbo + 48V mild hybrid. An improved version of the K14D (Japan specification is the K14C type) will be installed.

The engine combines a 48V hybrid system consisting of a lithium-ion battery, an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 48V-12V converter. The company says that it has improved thermal efficiency by improving the compression ratio and adopting electric intake VVT (= variable valve timing mechanism) and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation mechanism)

The K14C mild hybrid spec has a maximum output of 129ps at 5500rpm and a maximum torque of 235Nm at 2000~3000rpm. The maximum output of the IGS (*motor) to be added is generated by 13 ps (10 kW) and motor assist is performed.

Incidentally, the K14C model of the Japan specification pure gasoline model has a maximum output of 140ps/5500rpm and a maximum torque of 230Nm at 2500~3500rpm, and in comparison, with each other, the mild hybrid version has a slight superiority in terms of engine performance.

Compared to conventional models, the fuel consumption rate has been reduced by 16% and CO2 emissions by 15% (* NDEC value). In addition, the maximum torque generated rpm is also lowered from 2000 rpm so that powerful acceleration can be obtained from a lower rpm range.

MT is likely to be available for the new Swift Sport. Will also be equipped with a 6-speed AT as it is now.

However, due to the weight increase due to mild hybridization, the dry weight is announced to be 1025 kg.

The car looks significantly better than the outgoing model. I do really hope that MS must offer a turbo petrol as an option. The 1.0L boosterjet engine which was used in the baleno RS will be one the top contenders.The fun to drive nature of the swift coupled along with this engine will be a worthy competitor to the i20N-line.

Swift and Swift Sport (Japan)

Swift:

2023 Swift will arrive in Japan by spring 2023.

Swift Sport: Will debut next fall. (2023)

The engine is a straight-four or 1.4-liter turbo engine that is the same as the current model, but it is combined with a 48-volt hybrid system using a lithium-ion battery. The Swift Sport with this specification is already on sale in Europe, and the Japan specification will be matched from the next model.

The current European version has an engine of 129ps/24.0kgm, which is combined with 13ps of motor power. The current model of the Japan specification is 140ps/23.4kgm, so it can obtain the same or higher output when combined with the motor.

The transmission will be the same 6-speed MT and 6-speed transmission as the current model.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the 2023 Swift will be offered with a 1.2-liter, normally aspirated petrol engine and mild hybrid tech. For those wanting more firepower, the Swift Sport variant will again feature a mild-hybrid 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo four, sending power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual (or a CVT for those that love that doughy feel), with at least 130 horses.
