The first set of spy images of the upcoming Swift showcase the hatchback covered entirely in camouflage, revealing very few details. However, the car does appear to have a completely new front fascia with a larger grille, sweptback headlamp clusters and a clamshell bonnet. While the floating roof design and overall shape of the rear seem to be carried forward from the outgoing model, the rear door handles are now in their conventional position.

Internationally, the new-gen Suzuki Swift could get a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech, along with a strong hybrid option. Suzuki is also expected to introduce the Swift Sport version of the hatchback at a slightly later stage.

In addition to the DSBS II (Dual Sensor Brake Support II) collision damage mitigation brake, it is equipped with a number of advanced safety technologies such as AHS (Adaptive High Beam System) and DMS (Driver Monitoring System). Is there any chance that the Indian market actually gets this CVT instead of the existing AMT? Its an irony that Suzuki consistently deprives its largest market with regard to the right engine gearbox combination.

Heart wants it. But brain says forget about it. With the supposedly more premium Baleno now rolling out with AMTs in NEXA showrooms besides the Ignis - the options of Swift transmission options are pretty much sealed for good IMO.

The dashboard really looks nice. A big improvement over the Suzuki designs of the last few years in my opinion.
And then - one notices the rather after-market like piano black surround of the head unit touch-screen. Honestly its destroying the otherwise well laid-out dashboard.

The cabin aside, I'm still finding it hard to like the overall exterior design of the new one. Nothing is somehow matching up to the 1st gen!

New Maruti Swift India production to start next month.

New-gen model is already being road-tested in India; will go on sale before the all-new Dzire.

- Just like the outgoing car, the new Swift will be manufactured at the company's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.

- Monthly production target of around 20,000 units is being planned.

- India launch timeline isn’t clear yet but expect Maruti to launch the new Swift by April 2024.

- Suzuki’s new Z12 engine, an all-new 1.2-litre petrol unit, will debut on the India-bound Swift. Will come with mild-hybrid tech and some differences in its power and torque output.

- Contrary to the previous-gen Swift-Dzire twins, Maruti will introduce the new Swift in India first, followed by the Dzire a few months later.
