Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

2024 Suzuki Swift: Key highlights

> More advanced crash avoidance technology than today's model to keep pace with the latest five-star safety rating criteria.
> Top models are expected to be available with a 360-degree camera, a first for the Suzuki Swift and possibly a first for the city-car class.
> A massive widescreen digital touchscreen for the infotainment system.
> Rear-wheel disc brakes (as available on the current Swift GLX Turbo and Sport) rather than rear drum brakes, across more models.
> An electronic park brake (rather than a handbrake lever).
> Paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for added driver involvement.
> Exterior and interior dimensions similar to today's Suzuki Swift.
> The 'footprint' or wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) is the same as today's car.
> The option of heated front seats on top models.
> More smartphone charge ports than before.
> Mild-hybrid engine with 'stop-start' technology to save fuel in stop-start traffic paired to a CVT auto.
> Room for a space-saver spare tyre or tyre inflator kit under the boot floor.
> LED headlights and taillights on top models.
> 16-inch wheels and tyres;
> Factory-fit front and rear parking sensors.
> New-design 16-inch wheels and tyres.

Quote:
the new-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback coming to Australia will be equipped with the full suite of safety tech, including centre airbags, so it may be eligible for a five-star safety score (pending test results).

The Swift is "inspired" by the Mini Cooper, right from the first generation.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

There are some reports that India might get the new Dzire before the new Swift. This is what happened even with the third-gen versions. But this time around, Dzire has been doing pretty well on the charts while Swift loses out to the new i10 on some counts. Let's see which of the two come here first.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

Swift Sport will appear in first quarter of 2024 as per reports from Japan.

Quote:
The new model will be a 1.4L turbo mild hybrid with an engine + motor with a power of about 150ps. The drive system is, of course, FF, and it will be a model change of the keep concept, including the design. With the addition of the latest driving assistance devices, the price is in the 200 million yen range. The high cost performance, which is the biggest attraction, is also alive and well.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

Pricing and fuel efficiency of the New Swift revealed through dealership in Japan, available only in AT (CVT). Feature rich even in its basic variant.

- The WLTC mode fuel economy of the new Swift's 2WD engine is 23.4km/L for the XG with the stock engine and 24.5km/L for the mild hybrid.

The previous model had a normal engine of 20 km/L and a mild hybrid of 21 km/L, so if you switch to a new model, you can save about 14 to 15% on gasoline costs.

Even the cheapest stock engine, the XG (1,727,000 yen / 2WD), is well-equipped.

The aforementioned blind spot monitors, low-speed collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and LED headlamps are all standard fits.

In terms of the balance between features and equipment and price, the most affordable grade is the mid-range Hybrid MX (1,922,800 yen / 2WD).

The XG is equipped with a mild hybrid system, aero parts, aluminum wheels, 6 speakers, and other equipment worth 260,000 yen. The price increase was reduced to 195,800 yen compared to the XG.

Users who want more advanced equipment should also consider the top-of-the-line hybrid MZ (2,167,000 yen).

It is equipped with adaptive high beams that reduce the glare of oncoming vehicles while maintaining high beams, and an electric parking brake that can keep the vehicle stopped for a long time when cruise control is activated.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

I really, really hope MSIL will bring the top of the line hybrid variant Swift to India in line with the Toyota-Suzuki hybrids in all the other categories. And I also hope and pray that they get out of their strong dogmatic approach that Indian consumers are only super price sensitive and will not put their cash down for wheels that are smart, technologically superior and look hot! Come on MSIL it's time you guys did some actual market research outside your factory!

impressed by the seat heater. Until now, most Suzuki cars have both if you choose 4WD, but the strategy was that the 2WD version was only the driver's seat.

However, the new Swift is now equipped in both seats even if you choose the 2WD model

Quote:
It is equipped with a newly developed inline 3-cylinder DOHC 1.2-liter "Z12E" engine. By adopting VVT on the intake side and achieving high-speed combustion and a high compression ratio, the system produces a maximum output of 60 kW (82 PS) at 5700 rpm and a maximum torque of 108 Nm (11 kgfm) at 4500 rpm.
Combined with the newly adopted high-efficiency CVT, the WLTC mode fuel economy has been significantly improved from 21.8km/L (2WD) to 23.4km/L (21WD) of the previous model. In addition, a model equipped with a mild hybrid system that combines an ISG generator with a motor function and a dedicated lithium-ion battery is also available. The WLTC mode fuel economy has also been further improved from 0.24 km/L to 5.2 km/L (2WD model). A 5-speed MT model is also available for the 25WD model, and the WLTC mode fuel economy is 4.<>km/L, making it a more fuel-efficient model.
Quote:
In this new model, the "Dual Sensor Brake Support II" collision damage mitigation brake, which combines millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera, is standardized on all models. It is characterized by enhanced safety, such as being able to detect pedestrians and bicycles when turning left and right, and motorcycles when turning right. In addition, adaptive cruise control (ACC) is used in hybrid vehicles, and especially in the high-end model (HYBRID MZ), it is equipped with an all-speed tracking function and a stop holding function, which is a degree of fulfillment that does not seem to be a compact car.
Quote:
While the braking characteristics follow the sportiness that has been characteristic of successive Swifts, the beginning of braking has been relaxed, making it easy to handle even in the city where stop-and-go is repeated.

In addition, the electric parking brake (EPB) is used for the first time in a Suzuki compact car, making it easy to activate and release the parking brake with the operation of a fingertip, and it is also equipped with a brake hold function that keeps the vehicle stationary even if the foot is removed from the brake pedal when the vehicle stops. The system provides voice guidance not only on the meter display but also on the voice, and a voice guidance function is adopted to support driving.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki Swift concept revealed ahead of official debut later this month

Really can't believe the design and hope India won't get this, if it does then this is by far the worst looking Swift to ever get released!

The Gen 1 was radical and refreshing for its time and looked gorgeous!
The second was a lot boring but still un-offensive all things considered.
The third one especially in red was and still is a looker, but this one looks shockingly bad to me.

The rear reminds me of the infamously ugly Gen 2 Creta, but that still had a decent side profile and to me decently good looking front profile, this on the other hand has no redeeming qualities anywhere!

Not as refined, but not so bad either. I drive a Fronx 1.0 AT. Can tell the difference only when the car is not moving and only at around 1.2k rpm point. The overall sound is different too, but that too not in a bad way; I enjoy it.

Welcome to Japan. What else to expect from a place that still uses Fax daily.
Even on the most top end cars you can see a CD slot. Rest assured it would be the first thing they would remove for international markets, let alone India.

That is not the CD slot. Since i lived and drove in Japan i know

It is for the ETC card ( Electronic Toll collection), like our Fastag!

Unfortunately Japan is still in archaic card world, so the toll collection is still card based, nothing like our fastag or UPI. On the flip side, the toll gates open real quick, so no need to slow down or stop, simply drive through and the barrier opens up !

and that device is not standard ! you have to pay EXTRA for it. Another way for manufacturers to milk money. Most Japanese get it done outside at accesory shops for half the price the OEM charges.
