Somehow, the car looks ill-proportioned from front & rear. The aggression seems to have gone from the Swift!
Hope that the actual product will be much nicer to look at and continue the genes of Swift's driveability.

Not sure what Suzuki is trying to prove with all these concepts and drip teasers - this car looks like any other Swift from the past decade and while that may not be a bad thing - this looks worse than earlier generations IMHO.

Not at all excited by this design or strategy. Hope at least the 'Sport' variants spice things up!

Only thing I found interesting about this if it's a full hybrid. That will be good to have.

On a light note,the car next to new Swift concept looks better in terms of design and front proportions.

Safe evolution of an accepted design. "Please-All-Offend-None".

-Interesting to see a CD player slot on the dash below the HVAC controls. Am sure this will be deleted for India.

-Suzuki's love affair with the Gen-1 Swift's electric window switches and control continues. What a deep emotional affair this is!

-Good to see old fashioned analogue needles and the presence of fuel and (temperature??, don't see that), gauges for the instrument cluster.

-Am sure India version will continue with the existing powertrain combnations. Asking/wishing for the 3-pot turbo maybe too much for us plebians;(given its tepid response in the Fronx). Wishing for the 1.4litre 4-pot, UK spec turbo? Downright sacrilege

-Hope they tighten up the steering, make it more direct and put in more self-centering, re-calibrate the brakes and bring back the rear anti-roll bar (a la Gen-1 Swift).

-A rorty exhaust to checkmate the i20 N-line: N'aah, this is "Ye Ole Suzuki Uncle", not your "Hep Hyundai" neighbour! Maybe a fruity sounding end can as an official accessory?

Let's see what fate, Suzuki and a certain Mr Shashank Srivastav & Company has in store for us.

More Pics of the Swift 'Concept'

- a new design of the rear lights, although the cluster shape and position isn’t too dissimilar from the current Swift.
- There’s also a roof spoiler and a visible rear-view camera jutting out from the bootlid.
- Central touchscreen has been repositioned to the top of the reshaped dash with physical climate control buttons sitting underneath.
-There’s even a CD player below
- Ahead of the driver the tachometer and speedometer are new, with a more simplistic design and the engine start/stop button remains on the right hand side of the steering wheeL

Suzuki could try to be a little radical as Koreans, wrt design and looks.

Pricing constraint shouldnt stop innovation.

Suzuki is turning the swift from a trendy teenager to a fuddy-duddy uncle.

While i understand their need to go with a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach, at least they could have added a bit more chutzpah to the interiors. Swift is a budget Mini to many folks. Imagine how out of place a Mini would look with VW Passat interiors.

Where's the fun Maruti/Suzuki?

The interior is so busy looking yet bland. There is too much going on with lines and patterns going here and there, but it ultimately conveys no emotion.

And their obsession with that floating touch screen with more bezel and actual screen, sticking out like a big wart makes it look all the more worse.

New Suzuki Z Series engine to debut with fourth generation Swift in 2024. Hybrid tech is the one seen at the JMS.




New state-of-the-art Z12 engine will replace the current Swift's K12 unit.

Codenamed Z12, the new motor is a 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that will replace the Swift's current K-series 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder powerplant.

the company has set high fuel efficiency targets, and, while power output is likely to remain similar to the K12 unit, torque would be higher. 350cc to 400cc is considered the sweet spot for a cylinder's volumetric efficiency, and with each cylinder now at 400cc in capacity, the volumetric efficiency and torque could improve.

the Z12 loses the K12’s free-revving nature in favour of the stronger pulling power it develops at the bottom end.

With ever tightening emissions norms, the new three-cylinder engine will not only emit less fumes but also target efficiency, thus helping Suzuki keep within its CAFE targets – something the brand does in India. To that end, the Swift shown at the Tokyo Motor Show also has hybrid tech.

In India the Swift is likely to continue to have the regular (non-hybrid) engine.

In time, the Z-Series could also offer differing engine capacities, thereby replacing other K-Series powerplants that are currently in use.

Interestingly with the latest engine, Swift fuel consumption is predicted to be more economical than the previous version, even claimed to be able to penetrate 35 km per liter to 40 km per liter.
