Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Sadly there is no car available in Indian Market that offers CVT or AT under 10.5 lakhs except AMAZE CVT. I was searching for a CVT or AT car/ mini SUV under 11 lakhs, there is no such car available. Only car which is available in AT is VENUE but that costs around 13.5 lakhs onroad. Auto Manufacturers will never understand that major chunk of people do not like jerky AMT.

HONDA ELEVATE is coming soon but initial 2 models will come with MT gearbox only! So literally, it's the VENUE which seems to be a value buy which comes with an Automatic gearbox.

AMT is a big NO
Exter/i20/baleno seems to have disappointed a perspective AT/CVT buyer!

You have the following options if you want an AT / CVT cheaper than Venue AT, considering the S(O) DCT variant.

• Tata Altroz DCT mated to the 1.2 NA
• Hyundai i20 CVT mated to the 1.2 NA
• Tata Tiago EV
• Magnite Turbo CVT
• Kiger Turbo CVT

Though the sad bit is none of the above vehicles does great numbers and people laps up the AMTs available hence manufacturing them and raking in higher profits cannot be blamed entirely. Afterall, it's all a business.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Good pricing strategy from Hyundai taking Punch pretty seriously.
Looks everybody is very sure that Punch will take a hit. Comparing the numbers of Venue and Nexon, where Nexon platform is old, AMT GB and an odd rear styling still sells excellently than most sub 4M SUVs.

Punch is established and has taken Ignis very well and has cannabilized a very matured Altroz.

IMO, if there is any hit that would be taking is
Grand i10 and a bit i20 too. Who knows even venue can be impacted.

For me, this moment, Punch looks safe.
How much ever we whine, crib, abuse AMT, public has accepted it and they have mastered how to drive and live with AMT.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

I've been waiting a long time for a "Proper AT" hatch under 10 lacs, and was keenly observing the C3. The Citroen think-tank probably understands that the ship has sailed, they missed out on a golden opportunity. The C3 is a superior product, such a shame Citroen hasn't delivered on potential.

I'm in the market for a city beater for my mother, looks like I'll be settling for the Exter. Safety remains a concern, but you gotta give it Hyundai for their understanding of the Indian "mass" market.

Waiting for Kochi OTR pricing, do they not have the SX(0) AMT variant in DT? Somehow, none of the color options excite me. I was thinking of the White DT, but not sure if that's available in the trim I'm looking for.

I live abroad. so will be heavily leaning on our forum before I make a decision. Waiting to see if this car drives better than the i10 Nios.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

I was at a Hyundai showroom in Bangalore. I thought there would be a huge crowd. But, to my surprise, hardly any footfall. In fact, I was the only one checking exter. ( I was there for about 15 minutes). Not sure if this is a one off.

The SA started off calling it an SUV. While I liked the interior, the exterior doesn't appeal to me. Also, the price for SX AMT exceeds 10 lac on road. Not saying the pricing is bad. But features like sunroof etc dont make sense in a car like this. I wont be surprised if hyundai increases the price in a month or so. (Does anybody have the Bangalore price list? ( I mean the dealer price list which includes additional expense like warranty etc. The SA didn't have it ready.)

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

TML should get a DCA equipped Punch with 6 airbags, ESP and settle the issue once and forever. I am unable to understand why manufacturers are not implementing the 6 airbags as standard. If Hyundai can do it at an ex showroom price between 6-8 lac, others can do so as well. This would at once kill the debate on basic safety features. Side/curtain airbags do have their value in case of a side on or an angled impact, the deployment of curtain airbag may prevent passengers from impacting the side windows, preventing critical facial injuries. I know of at least one case personally where the driver/passenger could have reduced injuries had there been a side/curtain airbag. And no, the structural reinforcements alone would not have helped the cause in this case.

Exactly, cannot understand why are they waiting for the government to enforce 6 airbags standard, why can't they just do it like Hyundai Kia. May be they are thinking that they can afford to wait for the enforcement. While Hyundai Kia are implementing now itself to gain some brownie points in the safety aspect.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Hyundai Exter launched at price starting from 6 lakh. Top end at 10 lakh ex showroom. Good pricing I would say for all the features they are providing.

Not sure if this news is already posted.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

With 185mm GC & R15 wheels, the vehicle will have a stiff ride quality like or a bit less than the Ignis. At pothole riddled city roads, the stiffness does bother overtime.

I wonder what would people pick, the Grand i10 which in itself is quite loaded with features or the Exter. Going by the sales trend, the question answers itself

Oh thanks a lot I totally missed it!
I looked all over and paid close attention to the tech specs and dimensions. But I missed this fine print on page 7!
