Maybe I'm getting old, but what in the world is a Parametric front grille?
Does the grille change its function/appearence etc by varying some inputs?

Re: Hyundai Exter bookings open in India; 5 variants & 3 powertrains

I believe Hyundai has studied the market very well for the launch of this particular product, although some of us are surprised about the lack of turbo manual variant on offer, there is a reason why Hyundai is not offering it.

There’s no turbo option available on the Punch as well, yet it ranks in the top 10 selling cars almost every month (cannibalising the sales of both Tiago and Altroz) and when Hyundai offered the detuned GDi on the Nios and the Aura the volumes were very limited as no one bought them. They have also planned the launched with foresight knowing well that Tata eventually plans on launching the Punch iCNG by offering CNG variants from the launch itself.

The general car buyer wants anything they can call an SUV (all of us here know they are raised hatchbacks/crossovers but the marketing gimmicks seem to work on many) and they don’t care about the engine and transmission options (for them AMT is an automatic no matter how jerky it is). With the amount of features Hyundai usually offers and given that there’s an SX(O) Connect variant on offer as well many will buy this and it will further deteriorate the sales of the Aura and the i20 (this iteration of the i20 isn’t as successful as the Elite one, that car used to prominently feature in the top 10 selling models every month even after the Venue launched and sometimes even surpassed the sales of the Grand i10).

As far as the design element is concerned their sporty sensuous, parametric whatever design language seems to work well with the masses (Creta and Verna are prime examples) so this well sell in good numbers only if they don’t overprice this like they did with the i20. I am sure once this is launched there will be a lot of offers on the i20 (since its due for a facelift as well).

The back is looking very busy. The cuts and creases remind me of Mahindra's KUV100 rather than a VW Taigun..

That is one handsome small SUV that I would like to have in my garage - its been a while, probably a long while since the Ecosport was the only mini-SUV that actually made me want to go get one. Which btw I did!

Am looking forward to replacing my ageing (petrol) Elantra with a small city car - this looks perfect.

Re: Hyundai Exter bookings open in India; 5 variants & 3 powertrains

I have a very serious feeling that this would cannibalise the Grand i10 Nios. The aura would be safe as it's meant for a different purpose altogether. An EV based on the Exter in the future would also be something to look forward to if Hyundai decides to do something like that.

Anyone knows if this is going to be positioned below Venue? Punch / C3 segment? From looks it is different. Need to see in person.

Should be below venue based on the target buyer, as per my understanding.

I think I have cracked the case. I have successfully guessed where they are getting their inspiration from.

Re: Hyundai Exter bookings open in India; 5 variants & 3 powertrains

Why does the car look bigger than it is supposed to be in every picture I have seen of it.

If I had not read about it, I would not know it is a Punch competitor.

I hate it when car executives use the term sporty and dynamic.
NO. Your 80 hp car is not sporty by any means.

Re: Hyundai Exter bookings open in India; 5 variants & 3 powertrains

Finally a competitor to our Lord S-Presso.

there is a comparison of Casper with the Suzuki Celerio in the Philippines. If Exter is similar to Casper, the marketing images are very misleading.

Re: Hyundai Exter bookings open in India; 5 variants & 3 powertrains

It seems that Hyundai took Caren's CAD drawing, did some changes and trimmed the proportions to under 4m. Voila, we've got Exter.
