March 2023 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only cars that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

All of Nissan-Renault combined (3260 Nissan +1568+1283+2538) is not even 5 digits in sales. (Total 8649)

All of VW-Skoda combined does 7500ish units.

The entire jeep brand totals out at 650-ish.

Serious cause for concern, IMO.

Somebody should give the India Senior leadership of Jeep FCA a bonus for their stellar performance.

The sales head of Jeep India clearly has delivered on pricing a capable vehicle completely out of the market.

No wonder they've begun pushing offers and editions lately.

And Tucson is right behind, IMO will go past Compass+Meridian in coming months.

Tucson for HMIL is a halo product. It doesn’t matter for hyundai if it doesn’t sell. But it is a good thing to have an international product as the flagship in the lineup. The case of Jeep is different!

Insane numbers by Creta & Nexon consistently.

I think the above user meant to say the Tucson will overtake the Compass/Meridian. Despite also being overpriced for what it is.

Personally seeing the vast dip of sales in Jan of 2023 for the Tucson and the complete recovery in the following months I am very curious to know if significant discounts are being offered for the Hyundai Tucson.
The Skoda Kodiaq also clocked in competitive figures to the Compass. Infact their highest in the past 6 months and by a margin! I wonder the same about the offers on the Kodiaq now : )

The Octavia and Superb seem to keep doing consistent numbers relative to their sales history, I am surprised as I figured it would have fallen off by now given RDE2 Compliance timeline. I wonder if there were more CKD kits than we expected by this time of the the soon to end production cycle and it has been just great inventory management and without giving any significant offers by Skoda.

Shouldn't the Scorpio come under the D1 segment rather than the C2 segment? Or is it because the Scorpio Classic and N numbers are clubbed?

Re: March 2023 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

The e-C3 did respectable factory shipments (888) despite seeming a tad overpriced, and the regular c3 too topped 1000, after a sharp dip in February. Hope it continues. We need competition for Tata in the EV space.

Re: March 2023 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Well, I came here to check how well Innova Hycross sold, but can't see the break-up yet!
I know they definitely sold atleast 5 in Pune, as I took delivery of mine and saw 4 others do the same .
I am not sure if it will beat XUV700 in sales figures as XUV700 has better gizmos than Hycross, at a lower price point.
